Laying Low Playing Low

By the_schmenx | Published Apr 16 2005, 08:43 PM
I haven't been posting but I've been on a pretty depressing run.  I'm trying to become a better person through it, and poker can definitely be a character builder.

I feel that I'm pretty tough on myself, and I think to be a great player, you need to be.   I've had some tough breaks in the last few weeks at real bad times, I think I've bubbled (less than 3 away from the money)  with the best hand money in maybe ten times in the last couple of weeks, some have been of the 80/20 variety.  What can you do?  The strongest people get through it.  Deep down, I'm a strong proponent of playing the right way and if the results don't pan out, well, it should not affect me one way or another (easier said than done).  Ultimately, that is where I'd like to be and I think I will be a serious threat on a high level.  I want to get to the point where I don't even get upset inside after a bad beat, less mouth off.

When you are low on funds, everything seems magnified and I think it is one of the reasons people may lose it in the chat box sometimes.  I've been playing some smaller buy ins trying to build back, and hopefully I'll get on a tear that I know I'm capeable of.

Playing for a living is a tough road and can be quite trying.  I'm attemping to pass through a bad time and get to a place where winning or losing doesn't matter.
