Shout Out for Bodog

By Denny Lemieux | Published May 03 2005, 11:56 PM
What's crackin everyone?  Hope everything is goin well for everyone lately.  Things have been going well on this end, other then the fact that I have to take these damn finals but whatever, the year is almost over.  A few people have commented to me how they haven't seen my much on UB lately, this is true I haven't played much there at all.  I play a couple tournaments a week there but have spent almost all of my time playing on Bodog.  The software is so-so but the games are pretty ripe so I can suck up any issues I have with the software.  Someone told me not to mention Bodog in this blog because they didn't want more normal players going over to the site.  I thought about it then realized there are about 6 people who actually read this so I figured it wouldn't be a problem.

Now when I opened pocket5's today I noticed something a little odd.  There was an article by Beanie and it was actually a normal article, he wasn't angry at the world, he was actually trying to give people real advice, it was shocking.  Now I love to play tournaments, for me they are just more fun and they are a great way to score some real cash very quickly.  When I started on Bodog I had very little money invested into the site but I was able to win a 25k guaranteed on the site which now allows me to play some normal sized cash games on the site which has generally been pretty profitable to me.  The only downside to this is that playing the cash games on Bodog has turned me off of tournaments.  I played the first 25k guaranteed UB had last week and did well in it.  Some things went wrong at the final table and I have argued with a lot of people about the way I played a few hands during the tournament, but all in  all it was a great tournament for me.  Except for one thing.  I made about 400 bucks for 5 and a half hours of play.  Is that bad no, but man is it frustrating, why would I do that to myself when there is a perfectly good cash game waiting for me on Bodog where I can make 5 times that in the same time span.   I have played a few tourneys anyway lately but just haven't been motivated, honestly I sucked in the past couple tourneys, the game I played was just poor.

Another thing that has got me wondering why I waste so much time on tourneys has been watching JSUP and LatestLines2 play tourneys this past weekend.  Both of these players beat out monster fields in the Stars and UB 200 tourneys.  Combined I think they made $13.57 in profit.  Congrats on your Big Macs guys.  Honestly though, the sickening thing is that both of them played great poker, they just got unlucky at the end.  They played the hands right and got unlucky and walked away with not much to show for it.  Both were rightfully pissed, I mean in tourneys you can play 99 hands perfectly, build a huge stack, and then one unlucky turn and it's all gone.  It frustrated me and I wasn't even playing.  Bottom line is that I was talking to God this morning and he told me he hated JSUP, sorry dude your screwed for life.

Anyways, I'm not sure what else I have to say, congrats to Swat1025 who somehow weeded through that tourney on Pacific on Sat. and took 3rd.  Worst site ever, worst tourney ever in my opinion but I would assume he feels differently.  So much for that overlay, if by overlay they meant a maximum capacity field, then ya the overlay in that tourney was great.  Whatever, you stay classy.
