Donks beating YOU everyday at MTTs ? I suggest Jennifear Poker Coach
By SirJoker on 04-11-2008 4:04 AM

    Hey Everyone,

A few weeks ago I got a 4 hour one on one STT training from Jennifear (and great writer for P5's)
for those of you didnt didnt see my post about my STT training basically I couldn't even beat the $5 STTs and after her help I was able to switch to the $6 Turbos after a few days I got to move up to the $15 T STTs and I made made over $800 with 20% ROI in over a week and a half..

Afterwards I ended up going back to her for some MTT training, I've played like 2400 of the $4 180s with a low 25% ROI before she came along so I've been struggling for the past 2 years. I own over 16 poker books (mostly just MTTs) , have been a member of RPT, Cardrunners, but started off at PokerSchoolOnline years ago, I just still could not do it, they might have helped some but not quite like Jennifear, shes just such a great teacher and writer I'm so glad I found her.

The lesson was on April 2nd and it was great, esp the fact that I learned STTs from here I was already on the right path. Since that time I've been focusing most on the $6 Turbo 45 Man. After a little over a week I managed these stats: 82 played to make over $400  with an outragous   81%  ROI    29% ITM  which I have also been running hot so that helped too.  It's amazing when your getting better and can consistantly beat the game you can actually start to tell the difference between running bad and just playing bad, but that has all changed thanks to her. I always thought I played so well but just always unlucky the donks were just killing me, I see now I was just plain playing bad.

I did start off playing the $4 180s on Stars but I just couldn't take the slowness of it, 3 hours to hit Final Table. The short time I did play I hit these stats:  72 played and made over $200, which was 71% ROI .
That included 2 2nd places and 1 3rd.  I cash a total of 13 times which I made 8 Final Tables out of 13 which I'm very happy with that small sample compared to my stats over the past 2 years which I pretty much doubled my chances of hitting a final table rather then just cash.

She is so amazing I played 2400 of the $4 180s in a 2 year run with a very sad profit of $2,000.
and ever since I found hear I have basically made over half that 4 tabling for about 4-5 hours a day.
She is very much worth the small fee she charges, and for a 4 hour lesson from a Pro and a P5 Writer you just cant go wrong, ask me anyday of the week whats helped me the most 16 poker books or Jennifear and it would be Jen hands down, I will always be indebted to her for the knowledge she has gave and I'll always be able to use that knowledge over wonderful years to come.

You can find info on her via Poker Articles/Contributing Writers, and very easy to find even if you just search Jennifear on the web, her Poker Palace is the spot for information about her background and lesson stuff.

    Thank You Jennifear, Much Love.

I play on Stars as SirJoker check my stats and they will tell you the same story but with a pretty graph to compliment everything you can tell exactly where she jumped in and saved me :)

If I had to do it all over again I would have risked alot more of my bankroll for what she has accomplished.. The ability to take someone whos been suffering this long with all the knowledge
hand reading skills etc and boost me enough to where I can not actually waste my time and have some spending money here and there :) I have been a student of the game for a very long time, but I was just too stubborn to give up because I knew it was possible and I'm not that gullible that the game can not be beat consistantly, plus poker is my only salvation out of poverty hopefully one day lol.

You are going to really enjoy your lesson with her, just give her all the information you can, like all your placings for STTs last 100 if you have pokertracker etc. She is so good at figuring out exactly where you are messing up just with stats like that alone and then she pretty much knows what areas to focus on. I think once she has you beating STTs you will evenually want her to help you with big scores with MTTs. Which I played alot of MTTs (alot less STTs) over the years and decided to go with her STT training first to help build my bankroll faster.

Good Luck with your lesson Zercher, I know you'll enjoy it. Just do me one favor... If you decide to get MTT training from her later please dont come to my tables :) and Thank You for the kind words, I have a feeling the only levels in stakes I'm going is up, cya there soon imo.

I absolutely agree, Jennifear is clear with the points she makes and is always willing to answer questions and make sure you on the same page with her.  I would very much recommend taking the time to have a session with her, especially if you are a SNG player.

How much does she cost? Is it hourly or a flat rate per session? I heard she has a website to apply to? What would that site be exactly?

I am alot like you SirJoker, I have been playing poker a long time but not so much the right way as in pot odds, expected odds, I was more into playing my cards and not the players or the more technical stuff.

Now i am into advanced poker reading with a decent understanding, I think I need someone to help me put all the pieces together and help me plug my leaks aswell.

Infact if SCTROJ reads this i would like to also know if he has setup some sort of teaching foundation to start teaching as i heard he was going to do.

Thanks in advance.

Jennifear's Poker Palace

Try that, if it doesn't just Google Jennifear.

I have very much respect for jennifear but if you want to get maximum value you should also subscribe to a training site, I subscribed for pxf and the next 2 weeks I ft the 10 r(finished 8th which sucks lol) but i did it!

I was a subscriber to Cardrunners for a while and its where I learned most about cash games.  However, I honestly feel that personalized instruction is by far and away the best for anything you want to learn about, be it poker, golf, whatever.  I will say that if my BR could afford it I'd have tried to keep on with CR, the vidoes alone are worth it.

PXF is the only place you need to learn SNG play, i know I'll get flamed for this but there was another thread where on of the top players comes in and points out some flaws in her game.  (Of course he was flamed by everyone in this forum, but I think if someone is selling a service people should be able to accept negative critiques) I'm not saying she won't make you a winner but sheets and innisint can teach sitngos with absolutely no flaws whatsoever and prepare you to work your way up to the highest sng's on the net.

 Just my opinion flame away

Werd does make a valid point, everyone has flaws and/or makes mistakes.  Jen's style is more aggressive than your "standard" SNG strategy but its still an effective style of play, one that she herself is very successful at from what I've been able to see.

I read an old post where Sheets pasted a HH for a SNG he had played and even his play had negative posts about certain hands, usually centered around him being too "nitty" and folding too much.  However, he won the SNG so his methods obviously work very well despite these "flaws".

The truth is as long as a player wants to commit to improving their play and is willing to hire a coach and/or join a site as a part of that process than I don't think you can go wrong either way.  Do your own investigating and pick what you feel is what you are looking for.  For me, I liked Jen's approach to the game and her ability to get her points across in a manner that is easily understandable.  Plenty of people swear by training sites, like I said I'm a former member of CR and one day I may be able to see what PXF has to offer.

Either way you go, as long as you can correctly apply whatever style/method you learn, be it Sheets, Jennifear or some other successful mentor, I feel it'll be worth your time.

It's an agressive style that is very read-dependant (she often assigns ranges to unkowns that are FAR too tight).  All you really need to play turbo sng's successfully is ICM, and i understand she teaches that which is good but you don't need to spend so much to learn about it, all you need is a program like SNG Wizard and a little bit of insturction on how to go through hand histories, and learn everything on your own.

A read-dependent style doesn't work when playing 12-27  tables like any profitable sng player will do.

Also I have to ask, does she give her students some sort of discount or something for making topics like this one?  Seems like they pop up a lot :D

More good points Werd... I just wanted to put a good word in for Jen to the OP based on the positve experiences I've had with her myself.

As a side question... do you use SNG Wizard and how useful is it?  I've not yet had the chance to try it.

I used to go thorugh entire tournaments in sng wiz until i was making optimal plays all the time, and i still occasionally go through certain situations i come across.  As of now i'm just using pokertracker/pahud to get a general idea of how many hands my opponents are playng with 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 players left and also take notes based on their range in certain spots for use later (i'm actually pretty good at noticing little things when playing 16 tables)

but like i've said you really don't need to spend so much on lessons to be a good sng player you just need to take the time and put in the work yourself =\

also as of recently i purchased TourneyManager which is amazing for tracking sng progress, just press f5 and it automatically imports all of oyur tournies and tracks everything oyu could think of :P

Actually theres no need for a discount, at least thats how I feel about myself. I spent $300 with her for 2 lessons on poker formats I couldnt even really beat (MTT very marg for 180s and no FTs in big fields, STTs just plain losing), and turned around and printed out $1200+ back in a short time over half of the profit coming from STTs. With that kind of ROI I made off her its like begging a pokersite for a very small amount of rakeback. I'm not sure about anyone else but I just want to make sure she is known and gets the credit she deserves. If this post helps at least 1 other person learn to play good poker esp if your like me and been struggling for years and years and putting in plenty of studying (doesnt 16+ books count just a tad? :) and believe me playing over 2400 $4 180s with crap 20% ROI is plenty of work, I just still didnt get it.I needed to improve alot from a certain math standpoint which people never seemed to cover in books which HoH mentioned about it just no details (got overlooked so small I guess). Jennifears training was a very good trade off for me. I just kick myself everynight now after not finding her last year etc which she started. It worked for me after all them other sites/books, I recieve my discount every game I register for.

Before I had a STT lesson with Jen my ROI was 6% at the $5 level and declining. Since my lesson my ROI has climbed to 27% and still going up. It also benfited my MTT game massively as well for theclosing stages

Just like sir joker, look at my graph in shark and the lowest point it where I had my lesson.

I cant add anymore than sir Joker but seriously this is worth the money, I made back the cash in one week of playing a very low volume

i am considering get more advice on her from MTTs which are my forte as if she can do half  as much as she did for my STT game then its going to be well worth it
