Should I join PxFactor?
By slizza420 on 04-25-2008 6:54 PM

I have done ok as a completely self taught player but I know that I probably need to become a student of the game if I want to get much better. Studying Bax and those guys styles might help me improve. Do you guys think that I would benefit much from watching all those videos or would I just be donating them a couple hundred bux?

'Low price' is relative of course, but Bax and Annette have both said that they watch vids over breakfast before they start their day, and ive heard they do okay...

Before I joined PXF I used to call raises with KQ out of position ... enough said.

Def worth the cost and I don't even watch that many videos because I have too much ADD to pay attention for that long.  And to be honest, ajk are videos are perhaps one of the best vids on there, (and he's only made 1 or 2 I think).  I'd also reccommend AAAA's vids.  He might be one of the nittiest players on PFX without a big stack, but his hand range analysis and stressing the importance of playing in position is superb.

  • does pokerxfactor still use their hand replayer instead of showing the actual poker client?  If so I would pass.  I bought the membership and canc'd it by the end of the month and went with card runners so I could see the hands actually being played.  Timing tells are so important in online poker and you can't get a feel for what the other player has when the speed between their actions is always the same as they are in the xfactor videos.  my 2 cents.

I joined pxf at the beginning of this month, and I've become a completely different player. I knew of resteals, squeezes, and other inflection plays and used them occasionally, but since joining pxf my aggression later in tournaments has really allowed me to get to deep final tables and final 2 tables...I even ran like garbage for 100+ tourneys after joining, but since then my roi has jumped from ~15% to 100%+...you really are doing yourself a disservice if you take poker serious and don't join this site.

Mostly replayer, some live

 I never thought about this.

You're right. Timing can be an important tell.  For example, if someone pauses a long time and then bets  -- look out! They are often Hollywooding a monster.

When all bet times are equal, you lose that tell in the videos.
