Brand new Toshiba laptop, Core 2 duo, 6GB RAM, Windows 7.

I just bought a Sprint Mi-Fi 2200 Mobile Hot Spot.

Connected to the internet and have full signal. Downloaded Firefox and set it to erase all history on exit. Went back in and cleared out all IE history. Sounds great. Unfortunately, the internet sucks. P5's takes forever to load and I cant even watch a basic YouTube video without serious delay. Opened Stars and it said I had 96% connectivity. However, it still seemed to run slow, for instance, the lobby would be slow to load. As I said, this laptop is days old and yesterday I had slightly similar problems running a 3 year old Sprint Broadband device. The laptop itself wasn't as slow as it is now with Mi-Fi, but would boot me off Stars whenever I initiated a YouTube video every now and then, nothing too serious but it was a consistent problem.

If you can hold my hand and get me through this pickle, I'll take care of you for your time monetarily. Thanks again!

go to speedtest.net first and cross check with speakeasy.net See if your internet is the problem or if your cpu is. If those tests come back shitty, then I'm not sure what to tell you. A new CPU shouldn't be doing that.

Kinky idea of foreplay.  I'm in!

And not that I have any real idea as to the crux of the problem on this one, but I do know that many, many people have had connection problems relating to the new software in Windows 7.  So, while I may not have a fix, I do know you're not the only one with this particular problem.

Your computer shouldn't be the problem.  I can tell you that Stars can be picky with certain wireless signals.  My old wireless router was fast and worked great, except I kept getting kicked off Stars every 20 minutes.

hey SS, try these

Open a Command prompt (start>accessories>command prompt) or type cmd in run.

type:

ipconfig /flushdns      press enter

then try

ipconfig /release       Press enter

then try

ipconfig /renew        Press enter

lastly try

netsh winsock reset      Press enter

you will have to restart after the last one.

this probably won't work with your case, but sometime you could just have a bad lease. PM me if it doesnt work i'll give you something else to try

My tests are ran were on par for whats to be expected. I spoke to a Sprint operator and she gave some assistance from over the phone that proved to help at the time. I have a 2 week trial where if Im displeased at all, everything Ive bought is replaceable. Thanks for everyone's help and Ill drop a token of appreciation to all who chose to help. Thanks again.

Firewall possibly?  See what Toshiba has installed as a third party firewall package and try temporarily disabling it.  It's probably McAfee or Symantec and should be tuned to run well but might need a little tweaking to run your setup.

does your new mifi limit the amount of broadband wifi devices you can pickup?

Yeah I had to do that before I could install a poker site. Thing is though that for the last 30 minutes the connection is running at what should be expected. All I did was encounter 4 hours of some of the worst connectivity issues you could ask for considering I have high grade products even though I don't have cable.

if you are sharing this connection with anyone else near by you are going to lose alot of speed due to the limitations. you are probably using more GB than you think when using. Being that you are on a 5 max system your connection capability may not be able to keep up with connection needed at times during high traffic. also, stars will not pickup a strong connection on this network (if its EVDO related) alot of times if shared.

once you meet your limitation can you "throttle" your speed back to 500kbps by chance? i think if you use less bandwidth you may find sites flow smoother
