What would you do if your best friend...
By BcLive on 05-14-2008 11:48 PM

...of 20 years embezzled over 100k from your company?

Long Story short. I started a company, sold it but was kept on just because I started the company. Hired a CEO to control the company and gave him control to hire who he wanted. My friend that I help with everything was hired on to basically be the manager as a favor to me.

I've hired him at a few of my companies but this one he would help more than the others so I put him there. For having no real education I started him at 48k which is really good. After the first two years and the company moving along pretty good I thought everything was flawless. We needed to move into a bigger building hired more people and just kept pushing along.

Year later goes by and I didn't like where the CEO was going with things, I thought it was time for a change. I let him go along with a few guys he brought on because they were basically a group that pulled a small business to a medium but weren't capable of taking a medium company to a large one.

Tax time rolls around and I decide to see what we've been doing for the past year. Mind  you, I have other companies so I wasn't there to really see the daily operations. I order the merchant accounts for the cards and notice the crazy spending.

Before tax time took place my friend packed up and left 2 months prior. He never gave a full reason for wanting to move, he just did it. I now know the reason of leaving. Looking back I always wondered over the past year how he could afford the cool stuff in his house but now it all makes sense.

Yeah, that's the short.

Anyway, what would you do to your best friend of 20 years? We were basically brothers. What I think I'm going to do is going to break up our whole group of friends because some will side with me and some with him. Ahhh what to do.

Lets just say, 6 guitars, 72" TV, Diamond ring, Living room set-up, A bird (lol laughed at that even though pissed) and down payment on his SUV.

Black AMEX but yes to answer your question.

did he need the money to pay for chemotherapy for his dying daughter?  short of that I don't see what the dilemma is here.  Breaking up a circle of friends that would defend someone who stole 100k is a good thing.

umm i would contact the feds and make that fucker suffer in "pound me in the ass" prison. what an asshole. and as the above poster says if anyone defends a 100k thief then do you really want them as a friend?

Stab him in the eyeballs. Make sure he is blind. Steal, kill, and stuff his bird. Then sell the bird back to him imo.

Perfection in a business setting is a different thing. This guy needs to have charges brought against him, friends or not.

The friends I'm not worried too much about if they side with him. It's the fact his wife is 8 months pregnant and the min on this crime is 5 years in federal. Also, the wife was there on many purchases but not sure if she knew about it. She's a very straight churchy girl but hell after this who knows what to think.

I would just hate to see the kid go into foster if they both get charged.

And on the friends. Everyone will probably say just let it go if you can.

Man these were two people that went on every f'n vacation with my gf and I. Makes no sense what some people do for money these days.
