you're right. I should have def noted it was 33.333etc.

As an father myself and liking sleep as well.  Also, taking into consideration it was 3 am and not the official night to light fireworks.  I have come to the conclusion that you indeed are in the wrong.  Kids are kids, go out there and tell them to leave, if they do not then call the cops.

I don't think you are a douche, i think you saying that most people think i am a douche is immature and self defeating.  Fact is, people don't like whiny, self defeating people.  They like people who don't give a fuck and are confident, especially on a forum.  You clearly are neither of those.

In conclusion, you handled this improperly and need to stop taking shit personally.  And please don't say you dont care what others think on this forum.  You clearly do.

 At a grad party three weeks ago, some family friends of mine and I were drinking around 2 AM and heard what we thought was a witch cackling in the woods. We kept heard this cackling and eventually it moved to the street, so we decided to say fuck it, we're going to chase this cackler down. We walked down the street and found the source of the cackle, and it was some random high school kids just bored on a Saturday night.

So we chill with them for like 15 minutes on the street outside some random house, and of course the cops pull up. We're sent back home and the guy just tells us to be quiet and stop disturbing neighbors.

The general consensus was that while we were being assholes for being loud outside this person's house... what's up with no warning? They could have saved the cops some time by just saying, "hey, i'm trying to sleep, can you guys do this somewhere else?" We would have been fine with leaving. If we don't leave, by all means call the police.

I think in your case, if 4 squad cars needed to come to take care of this, then they probably would have been assholes to you, as they definitely had to be assholes to the cops. So no harm no foul I suppose.

randolf, if your kids sneaked out of the house at 3am, you would seriously rather a neighbor said "Shoo! Shoo!" to them instead of calling the police, which is pretty much guaranteed to get them home safely? Come on.

Kids are kids is exactly right. They don't make the brightest decisions and it's up to adults to be responsible when needed. Besides, who knows what their intentions were? It doesn't sound like they were trying to catch lightning bugs or plant pretty flowers.

 im still trying to figure out where I said randolf was a douche. The 33 percent thing was not literal. It was a joke. But who knows, maybe all the North Korea stuff has randolf on edge
