I saw an article today about europe not wanting to give any more troops or something like that to the war in afghanistan and it quoted that there was about 65000 american troops and about 45000 european troops, many of which are from the UK.
Over here, I feel not enough coverage and respect is given to our troops over there, never mind our ally's troops and the more i have been thinking about it, the more it bugs me.
I was just wondering how you guys all feel towards them and the war in general. Also, I'm curious how americans feel towards the troops from the UK fighting over there as well as their other european allies (also anyone else from any other country)...

I worked with alot of the Colalition Forces over there and respect all of them.  The reason why they are under the radar is,because its viewed as an American Fight.  But we could not do what we are doing in Afg without them.

We just brought back our 133 casualty today.  More casualties per capita than any nation IN afghanistan.  I am very proud of our troops, and always will be.  But, I am VERY happy that our mission there is over in 2011.  Someone else can carry the load for a while.

As an American, I think UK troops are badasses, and I hold them in the same regard I hold American troops.  From my perspective, the US and the UK stand together in this world.

The most coverage we see when a solider from a different country dies is just a mention on the ticker on the bottom of CNN

That's pretty much the same from the uk tbh. They usually mention any casualties from the war on the news, but its like a blip and then they are telling us about some blah blah celeb or MP or something.
I really do wonder wtf is going on- in ww2 and ww1 and the falklands etc, I am pretty sure this is not how they honored the dead.
Either way u think of it, if you agree with the war or not, these ppl are fighting on behalf of my/your country (pretty much doing what I coudn't do tbh) and yet we know nothing of it until someone dies and even then its just another statistic.

when troops died in iraq it used to be front page news, but that was just to try and make Bush look bad.
