I saw an article today about europe not wanting to give any more troops or something like that to the war in afghanistan and it quoted that there was about 65000 american troops and about 45000 european troops, many of which are from the UK.
Over here, I feel not enough coverage and respect is given to our troops over there, never mind our ally's troops and the more i have been thinking about it, the more it bugs me.
I was just wondering how you guys all feel towards them and the war in general. Also, I'm curious how americans feel towards the troops from the UK fighting over there as well as their other european allies (also anyone else from any other country)...

Plus our allies to the north.

Thank you, sir.  Too often, our men and women get "lost in the shuffle" over there.  It is nice that someone outside our borders remembers and recognizes their sacrifice as well.  Especially at this time of year . . .

All I know is that my step father (well technically ex) has gone over there for a total of about 5 years. He helped build some of the bases and he sent me awesome pics he took while flying on the mountains, he is a black hawk pilot. I am always upset that so much is shown about Iraq that people forget how dangerous, if not more so, Afganistan is. I have so much respect and love for all the solider, no matter where they are from, they are still helping try to keep everyone safe. It upsets me when I turn on NPR to hear about the death and it just makes me so much prouder of the troops still there, all of them. I never forget that this is not just American troops.

Occupiers involved in drug trade: Afghan minister
Sun, 01 Nov 2009 01:31:04 GMT

A foreign soldier walks through a poppy field in Afghanistan.
The Afghan minister of counter narcotics says foreign troops are earning money from drug production in Afghanistan.

General Khodaidad Khodaidad said the majority of drugs are stockpiled in two provinces controlled by troops from the US, the UK, and Canada, IRNA reported on Saturday.

He went on to say that NATO forces are taxing the production of opium in the regions under their control.

Afghanistan is the world's biggest supplier of opium.

Drug production in the Central Asian country has increased dramatically since the US-led invasion eight years ago.

A recent report by the United Nations states that Afghan opium is having a devastating impact on the world, killing thousands in consumer countries.

Meanwhile, The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Ahmad Wali Karzai, a brother of the Afghan president, is involved in the opium trade, meets with Taliban leaders, and is also a CIA operative.

The opium trade is the major source of Taliban financing.

KABUL, Afghanistan - Ahmed Wali Karzai, the brother of the Afghan president and a suspected player in the country’s booming illegal opium trade, gets regular payments from the Central Intelligence Agency, and has for much of the past eight years, according to current and former American officials.

The agency pays Mr. Karzai for a variety of services, including helping to recruit an Afghan paramilitary force that operates at the C.I.A.’s direction in and around the southern city of Kandahar, Mr. Karzai’s home.

The financial ties and close working relationship between the intelligence agency and Mr. Karzai raise significant questions about America’s war strategy, which is currently under review at the White House.

Same shit about the CIA as usual.  Brits are doing a fine job, they have a great Army, the more the merrier, there's plenty of Taliban and Al Qaeda to be killed.  Thanks for your support in the Global War on Terror.  Liberals & anti-war dopes can stuff it for all I care.

The US and our allies should pull all of our troops from Afghanistan and Iraq ASAP.

Although I am not a huge fan of outrageous conspiracy theories, anyone that thinks that the CIA, top level US govt, private companies in Iraq/Afghanistan act with respect and the interests of the US population at heart really need a reality check.

You are just a sheep, the CIA doesnt give a fuck about what you think, what you think you know, or what you think should happen. They dont answer to the average joe, although a lot of average joes think they do. This is exactly why CIA personnel can go out into the public and LIE right in front of us.

They dont give a fuck, they are some of the baddest muthafuckas on this earth. Who the fuck are you?

They got shit to do, and a world to protect...you are just a fly on their windshield.

With that being said, thats not right and there should be more transparency. BUT that will never happen so just live your life, and let the CIA do their thang
