Posts on NWP and 2p2 say that Brandi, of Brandi and Captain Tom, of Brandi and Skalansky, of Brandi stealing all of her boyfriends earthly possessions, has killed herself.
Don't know if this is a repost, but with no search function, I have no idea.

So sad. She was pretty and provided quite a bit of drama to us all.

Sure that's one way to look at it, but if you have ever been depressed you cannot see other perspectives. For her I think she could not see a way or any other possible alternative to fix her problems which is very sad. There were ways to help her, but she could not see them.

Hope this story is not true. Suicide will destroy a family like nothing else. It's hard to imagine what a dark place someone must be in for this to be an option.
Also, ill flu might be the biggest asshole in OT, and that's saying something. Good job.

cureit, in every single one of your posts, you make it a point to come across as a holier-than-thou prick with moral standards far superior to everyone else on these boards. please cease and desist.

Just perusing 2p2 would lead me to believe that this poor girl's life was train wreck over the last year or two. In that light, these events should surprise no one, least of all family and friends. This is a sad, but, in all too many cases, fact of life. Some people cannot adjust to the harsh realities of this world, or have issues that prevent them from doing so. RIP

How is ill an asshole? If you knew who she was or read about her this SHOULD be no surprise. It's tragic, but true.
I don't understand how people forget all the bad stuff people did when they were alive because they died. She's not a better person because she died.
She was young and could have turned her life around and this truly is a tragedy. I hope I didn't offend anyone.
RIP

http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news/article/11758/cult-poker-personality-brandi-hawbaker-found-dead
Brandi Rose Hawbaker, cult poker figure and misaligned beauty, has died. She was 26.
The Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that her body was found Sunday, April 13, in a residence in the 8700 block of Pershing Drive in Playa Del Rey, Cali. An autopsy ruled her death as a suicide.
Thanks to an over-the-top personality, an exhibitionist’s mentality and a life filled with some of the strangest adventures with those who play poker for a living, she became one of the most talked about poker personalities in recent years.
Online poker forums, fan sites and poker blogs instantly became infatuated with Ms. Hawbaker after she spent a majority the first several days of the 2006 World Poker Tour Festa al Lago Classic as chip leader (she finished 35th for $20,875). It was the largest of her three tournament cashes.
Her popularity was no doubt helped by her good looks and love for the camera. Ms. Hawbaker was not shy, and the male-dominated online poker world responded loudly to a personality that seemed to have walked right out of the pages of a Las Vegas noir paperback.
Every story and forum thread that concerned Ms. Hawbaker was read by thousands, and it was common that many hundreds would chime in with their own comments. The “Brandi Hawbaker” that emerged online was one of a grifter, and readers often were not kind. Several times, Ms. Hawbaker threw herself into the debates by posting and responding with her own stories. Online, she was often met with scorn and a fascination normally saved for the most compelling and damaged movie stars.
But her life was far from glamorous. According to Brandon Gerson, a friend of Ms. Hawbaker’s, she suffered from a “very serious untreatable mental illness” and had visited doctors in several states seeking treatment within the last year-and-a half.

Unable to see the forest on account of the trees?
I don't have sympathy for people who can't help themselves, unless they are legimately unable to do so. If she was competent enough to compete in poker tournaments and scam people out of thousands of dollars, then she did not have a mental neurosis that prevented her from helping herself.
It would be a different situation if she was a schizophrenic, or mentally disabled, or suffered from numerous other conditions. I understand depression. I understand mania. I know a lot more about mental neuroses than you. In fact, I have a B.S. in Psychology.
Chronic depression is fairly common, and very treatable. It does not turn you into a monster that is unable to control his/her own actions and decisions. It affects them, but it doesn't render you completely helpless and unable to control your life.
