I had this discussion with my cousin tonight..

backround..both brought up in a heavy catholic backround..school, church, everything..I since HS have gone towards science and evolution, he has stuck with religion faith..

I dont believe church is valuable what so ever, to hear some random person tell you what to believe and thats its right. I think the bible is like a fable, stories passed on and exaggerated. In no way is there proof, Noahs Ark, the tablets, anything. Its all based on hearsay. Religion was a way to bring others together to go against another race culture back in the times and still today. If earth was first as per the bible, did god create the other solar systems when? the 9th day?? We know they are there so where is the story for those? I am a realist who believes in proof, see to believe. You can have faith in something, yes i agree but if it happens u credit it to that belief. If it doesn't, then its more than likely denounced. There are thousands of different beliefs, opinoins, and thoughts that humans have about this and I am fully convinced our mind capability cannot go farther than death. You can't imagine the world without yourself. We all know humans die and for a fact turn into bones and ash. I dont understand that people are reincarnated, souls live longer, heaven and hell. There is no fire pit, no glorious cloud sanctuary. Now some will day how do you know that. You can sit there and tell me there actually is this? It's a belief that you were told exists. What does believing in heaven or hell gain? I wont know what my sould does after I die and we never will. I am on no way knocking religion or beliefs but after years of catholic school, I just don't get it no matter what religion.

OT debate and flame me if you will..i am looking for good explanations and thoughts not the typical GTFO or STFU because this is something that bugs me..thats all..

If you believe in evolution please exapand. I do think evolution is more accurate but where do humans, the most evolved species on this planet go? Are the more evolved species we don't know, there could be and if you dont think so why not?

Your right, Jesus Christ was/is a fairy tale, glad you were wise enough to sniff it out and call bullshit.

By the way, what date is it?

Last I looked the calendar system the world uses is based on the life of Christ, guess the hoax goes back a long ways.

You sir are all over the map, and as such no one can consider you even seriously enough to debate the merits of Christ, organized religion, evolution, or anything else.

I'm not saying stfu, or gtfo, I'm saying that your thoughts are so haphazard and ill researched that the subjects you brought up are tantamount to discussing quantum physics with someone who hasn't given themself any basic foundation of understanding and then wants to take advanced classes.

For the record, I don't go to church to "go against another race culture" or to hear some "random" person speak.

I go to church to listen to our pastor who has a phd and has studied the Bible intensely and every week we hear sermons about faith, hope, and love and we apply them to our lives while at the same time enjoying a tremendous sense of community.

As far as your theory that the Bible is a fairy tale that was "exaggerated" over time, you do realize the significance of the findings of the Dead Sea Scrolls?

The life of Jesus Christ is well documented, not just by Christian historians, but also by many non-Christian historians, and it is also supported by archeological evidence.

The Bible has manuscript authority for the very reason that it did NOT change over time - the Dead Sea Scrolls predated any known earlier copies of Old Testament chapters by centuries, but were still virtually identical - if it was a "fairy tale" it would certainly have had many variations and changes - which is not the case with the Bible.

Do you dispute that there is a contradiction between the theory of evolution and a literal interpretation of Genesis?

I always ask the minister, "in Noahs Ark, what sort of cages did the beavers have to live in"? They could not roam free and chew through the boat could they?  Noah must have caged them.

Somebody or something created this all. I do think there is evolution taking place, but in the end something got this ball rolling.
