Not counting sicktight311, were either of these two the best of all time, and if so, which one was better?

Please, PLEASE dont every use Page in the same sentence as Hendrix. Page is a fucking sell out piece of shit.

some of the greatest moments in rock and roll history

Hendrix performs the star spangled banner at woodstock

Hendrix' perfomance of wild thing at the montery pop festival

Hedrix' performance of machine gun at the fillmore new years eve 1970

would you also include Page's perfomance of come with me (puff daddys rap incarnation of Kashmir) with puff daddy on saturday night live? I think not.

Fuck Page, long live Hendrix.

Know who always reminds me of Hendrix? Kurt Cobain. Seriously, look at the similarities

Both were from Seattle

both played left handed

both died at 27

both were very raw and aggressive

The huge impact they had on music in their time

They both had that true spirit of rock and roll you know. Like.... just that deep down feeling you know. anyone else get that? Seriously, Hendrix and Cobain. Cobain - Hendrix reincarnated?

saying that jimi is a better guitarist than slash is an obvious non-guitarist answer.
who was more innovative? jimi
who had a better effect on guitar players through his music? jimi
who completely revolutionized the instrument at the time? jimi
who's overall, technically, etc a better guitarist? slash.

lots of people are gonna cry about this im sure, but that's kinda just how it is. Slash is a better guitar player, but as far as being a better musician, jimi blows him away. jimi was innovative, crazy, etc. He took simple blues based guitar to a whole different level.

My favorite story about jimi involves eric clapton and jeff beck attending one of his concerts when he was just in the very beginning stages of getting known. At one point during Jimi's first song, Clapton turns to Beck and says something to the effect of "oh shit, we're in trouble."

edit: i basically reiterated what goldenad said. my bad, well said goldenad.

Both styles are very different, Slash has his super fast riffs while Jimi is more of a technician in my opinion. I think Slash style requires more dexterity but Jimi is more innovative.

if youre gonna talk about technique and all that shit, neither of them are top 5..maybe not even top 10. There's a lot more to guitar playing than just technique.

SRV blows both of them away technically, the guy was unbelievably fluid, but id almost always rather listen to a slash solo, and id rather listen to a jimi song over an SRV song every single time.

that's just opinion, slugger.
in my opinion, clapton is very very overrated, but not as overrated as the most overrated guitarist of all time: drumroll.....santana.

How the fk do u even compare slash to jimi? seriously.

edit:  Clapton is NOT over rated and Stevie Ray Vaughan is absolutely godly.   Calling eric clapton overrated is fking blasphemous.

how does this thread even exist????

Hendrix was an insane musician... Slash is a solid guitarist and writes a mean lick... but Slash can't hold Stevie Via's jock, Joe Satriani's jock, SRV's jock, Randy Rhodes' jock... etc.

This thread stinks.
