Job Hunting

I have a job, and i like it enough, i guess.  However, I want to always be looking for something better.  Careerbuilder.com and monster.com list the shittiest jobs ever.

Would it be smarter to just send my resume to places that I think I would like to work in the future??

Like i said, i like my job, but I definitely would not turn down a better one.

So, what's the best way to keep on the lookout without clicking through page after page of wasted job postings?

Unemployment, or Craigslist. Monster and careerbuilder do suck as well imo

Networking man (not being a smartass here) is how you make that next jump.

You definitely want to have AT LEAST a 30-06 to take down a job.

HK has it all right here...there's one thing in college that I now think they could never teach enough about and that's networking.  My wife is awesome at it and I used to suck, but I'm getting better.  Her new gig 9 months ago was from someone in her network and my new gig that I start in a week was from someone in mine.

Building a network takes time and energy but it's how most good jobs are filled before anyone else finds out about them.  I'd never waste my time sending resumes to companies or on Monster, I'd instead look into trade organizations of your target companies and join one or two.  You'll meet the people already in that industry who are looking to network and are most likely on their way up or already there.

IMO, the best way to go is to get laid off then stay home and play like 60 games of MLB in less than a month.
