First of all, who the hell hates me?  Just joking, most of what I hear about it is that it snows a lot and is bitterly cold.  Surely there has to be some good things about it.

If anyone has been to Minot or area please let me know what to expect.

That the shitty thing about the military, you never know where they will send you.

What you bitching about? When I got out of Navy boot camp at Great Lakes, IL in 1970, after sighing up in Seattle, WA, they sent me to Beeville, TX.

Its no different than most midwest cities at this time of year.  Not that big of a city, so by comparison their won't be as many strip clubs, bars, etc., but the people are friendly and you'll have their respect by being a member of the military and serving your country.  If you have a family you'll probably have a tough time getting them to leave when your hitch there is up as they'll meet many good people who will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome.  If you don't have a family, believe it or not their are still plenty of ladies up der.  Good luck, things could be a lot worse, lol.

But do you like the lifestyle in SD?  If so, who cares about being cold for a few months.

I already expect the cold.  One of the things that suck is that the base is 12 miles to town.  I am sure I can get a lot of hunting and fishing in!!!

Its just kinda in the middle of no where... nothing much to do.  I have not been there much, so idk but I think any town other than like Fargo, GF and Bismarck would have little to do.  At least here in Fargo there are some neighboring towns, but not so much up in Minot.

You could have it much worse than Minot, its a moderately sized city (ND standards) and not incredibly boring. It also doesn't get as cold there as it does in the eastern part of the state. Its very nice in the summer, though.
