I was gonna say DD right away when I first saw this thread. But after reading all the replies, I guess if you took like 20 random cases of each you would find the armed robber def killed/injured more people.

I myself would rather probably be driving home not knowing someone was drunk in the other lane passing me, instead of being held up in a convenience store.  I would hate both clearly, but if I had to choose I would choose the first.

It's a touchy subject because drinking and driving affects a lot of people.

Idk.

Armed Robber and it isn't even close.

It's like when they say a certain city is the murder capital of the world. Most of the cities that are labeled as such have less homicides then a bigger more populated city but has a higher murder rate per capita.

so lets say City A is the murder capital of the world

City (A)
population of 100,000
Overall Homicides 1,000 for the year x
1% of the popualtion was murdered

City (B)
population of 400,000
Overall Homicides 2,000 for the year x
.5% of the popualtion was murdered

City (B) had more homicides for the year because the population is bigger but you are twice as likely to be murdered in City (A) so therefore living in City (A) poses a greater threat to you.

You obv have not seen Phil Hellmuth or Dante Stallworth drive. I would rather face an armed robber that looks like Kimbo Slice rather than even ride in a car with one of those two. Obv I am joking most drunk drivers make it home with only taking out a couple garbage cans etc. but in all seriousness some drivers drunk behind the wheel are every bit as dangerous as the most ruthless armed robber out there. One of my friends was a world class cyclist b4 some fuckhead drunk took off one of his legs.

NO is the murder cap of the US. I have always wondered why that is. Maybe all the cajun cooking gets em real pissed off.

Fair enough Jenn, however again if number of fatalies are near 40 percent by US states because of DD ing and we are not even discussing injuries then wouldn't you say it is far worse?
Intent does not matter.
Ask around, who do you know who has a friend/relative injured or involved in armed robbery....versus a drunk driving incident........here in US it isn't even close.

my god you are being dense. The question isnt what kills more people a year. The answer to the OP is armed robber by a lot.

Tell that to my buddy who lost his leg. I think he would have rather faced an armed assassin than get run over by a huge ass chunk of metal going 70 mph.

exactly

These stats would be impossible to get though because you don't know how many people drink and drive and make it back home safe.(extremly extremly high though) You could do some research and find out how many people are arrested a year for DUI/DWI that did not cause an accident. You could also find the stats of how many people were injured/killed because of drunks....but without knowing the number of people who make it back home without getting in an accident/getting arrested then you can not get the percentage of casualties per x amount of times people drive drunk.

Drunk drivers are more dangerous than nuclear weapons, mustard gas, AIDS, World War II kamikaze pilots and rabies combined.

lol I hope this is a level

droping 100 nuclear bombs on 100 different cities  > 100 times a guy is driving drunk

and its not even close

I would rather take my chance of getting hit head on by a drunk driver then a nuke landing on my head

Now if your adding the likelyhood of a nuke hitting me vs. a drunk driver then obv the drunk driver hitting me is more likely but 1 nuke does way more damage then 1 drunk driver and like I said, It's not even close.

Another big problem to this question is what qualifies as being drunk? Most states have determined that .08 impairs you to the point where you shouldn't be operating a motorized vehicle. In other states this level is higher. It also depends on whether or not the person can perform decently while being intoxicated etc. If someone is right at the legal level for driving then they may not be much of a threat to others but some wethead drunk that's completely tanked behind the wheel is every bit as dangerous to people as any armed robber.

Sigh.

Please note that any post in which I mention "World War II kamikaze pilots", "rabies" and/or "mustard gas" is almost certainly a level.

As a side note, I have noticed that my gas is very dangerous after I eat a lot of mustard.  Possibly even more dangerous than a drunk, naked kamikaze pilot with rabies.

SOME drunk drivers are more dangerous. Not all of them. It's a skewed question because so many variables are unaccounted for.
