to the guy writiing in the cultures thread about why hasn't africa come up with more technological advances .. you really think a new type of cellphone is the most important thing on these people 'to do' list right now??

I think this thread has done more to illuminate the ignorance and distaste of a lot of our little community here. Some of the responses have been idiotic and just downright sad.
Responses asking why they keep reproducing, how the people that take these photographs are in it for the money, etc. Just some really dumb stuff.
No, I don't donate money or anything. For one, you don't really know where your money goes, and two, I'd rather finance my own entertainment and lifestyle. I love helping people and am always a giving person, but you just don't feel the same not knowing if you've saved a kid's life or anything like that. Without actually knowing people you're helping, it's hard to help and feel like your money goes to good use.
That's all really beside the point I'm making, which is that this board has a decent amount of immaturity and ignorance. Think before you say something.

not saying that everyone has to join the peace corps, just being aware of these situations is enough i guess.
