Sarah Palin is resigning as Governor. I guess she can't take the heat.

UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.

ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.

I wonder what the scandal is?  Did she get caught having an affair?  Did another one of her daughters get knocked up and she decided to actually be a mother for once?

 ...wtf

The groups are themselves liberal, of course they support liberal candidates not just any politician with a vagina.

Would you expect that the NRA support a politician who wanted to ban guns?

So, what you are saying, is that feminist groups are a one issue clique?

Yeah, that actually makes sense.  Reason for me to hate them even more.

Actually I'm saying the exact opposite.  Your post implied that feminist groups should blindly support female candidates for office no matter their policy positions or ideological leanings.  I used abortion as an example of an issue women's groups care passionately about and on which they differ from Palin's stance, thus preventing them from supporting her just because she's a woman

No, but feminist groups should stick up for women when they are personally attacked. They don't have to support her as a candidate, but they shouldn't have stood on the sidelines during the media feeding frenzy. Some of the personal attacks were way out of line.

Edit: Also to the OP, did she decide to be a mother for once? You can't be a successful woman and mother at the same time?

those groups only support liberals.  his point is valid.

Maybe it's because those groups won't support someone who discriminates against other minorities because they understand what it feels like to be oppressed.

"If you want to be free, there is but one way; it is to guarantee an equally full measure of liberty to all your neighbors. There is no other." (Carl Schurz)

Or they could be reacting to her stance on abortion. Nearly all feminists believe strongly in freedom of choice.

Either way they aren't going to support someone they don't believe in just because she's a female. They are going to support a female that they feel lives up to the ideals that their group has set forth.

why?  Should the Christian Coalition have rushed to the aid of Obama when he was facing (much worse btw) personal attacks?

Obama was facing much worse personal attacks? By who? I wasn't aware of the mainstream media going after Obama personally the same way they did Palin. Obama got a free fucking pass by everyone other than Fox News.

 this is disgustingly wrong.

My wife considers herself a feminist.  In the true sense of the word, not the modern usage.  (Similar to me considering myself a liberal.)

She doesn't discriminate, she doesn't condone abortion as birth control, and she isn't a big government hump.

NOT all feminists are in feminist groups.  BUT Nearly all feminists in feminist groups believe strongly in freedom of choice.  that's because they are liberals who belong to liberal groups.  the country is split 50/50 on abortion.  About half of the female population are pro-life.  Your idea of feminism discounts these people as not women and not deserving of support.

It's not a womens right issue for these people, but a liberal rights issue.   They just hide behind their minority status to pull the gender card.  women's lib groups should be advancing ALL women FFS.  not just the ones they agree with on political issues.

where is the Lib Ladies support of mothers who aren't single parents?

Yes, because Obama needed a free pass for all those times when he couldn't name a single national publication that he read or when he couldn't come up with a Supreme Court case he disagreed with.

Similarly, Obama was never accused of being a Muslim, a terrorist sympathizer, an active terrorist, a Manchurian candidate, a traitor, or a non-citizen of the United States.

Actually, wait, those things might have been said once or twice about Obama but such rumors were immediately quashed when John McCain and especially his exceptionally talented Vice Presidential candidate loudly proclaimed that he was none of those things until the fringe lunatics got it through their skulls and STFUed

Way to address this question in your post tho

Actually, to a huge amount of feminists, abortion is a women's rights issue.

And,

LDM:
They just hide behind their minority status

In the united states: 0.97 males to 1 female.

Just busting your balls about the 2nd point though lol ;)

sorry to disappoint but if she runs in 2012 shes wasting her time. she wont even win the republican ticket. its one thing to be a big palin fan and say you will support her. but when it comes down to it people will not mark palin on their ballot.
and honestly she will not win the presidential seat. she is a nightmare for swing voters. and you cannot win without the swwing vote. i would bet that if she was smart she would run for the senate seat to build her image and national involvement. after holding the senate seat she will have a legitimate position from which to run for president.

I disagree with most of Obama's approach to public policy, but there's no chance in hell i'd take palin over him...
