The Lewis Powell Memo

Found some very interesting stuff about this guy and his memo.

Lewis Powell was a corporate lawyer(on 11 corparate boards) who was eventually put on the supreme court by Richard Nixon. A couple months before his appoinment he wrote the "Powell Memo".

In the late 60s and early 70s people were protesting and big buisness was hurting. Lots of consumer and enviromental movements. Corporations were unable to stop the banning of all cig commercials and many enviromental acts....The American public basically stopped the war eventually.

College Campuses were full of liberal professors and people disliked big buisness(the man) for the most part.

The Powell Memo was basically a long term plan to change the opinion of the American people on buisness, corporations and capitalism. The plan called for taking control of the media and starting several groups to rally and sway public opinion. Also get college students involved. Simply put, Government bad, rich corporations good.

Interestingly the memo stated that none other than Ralph Nader was very dangerous because of his attacks on big buisness and his views on consumer protection etc...Nader was very popular in the early 70s.

Anyway this plan worked to perfection. Corporations controll the media, politicians and even the supreme court. They even have the common middle class man protecting big buisness rights and going against their own interest.

For anyone interested there is a book about it all called :"Gangs of America"
