Tonight on PPV, Live at 7 pm P.T.,UFC 98 - Evans vs. Machida.

Great night of fights tonight.  The Main Event is going to be great for those who can really appreciate the depth of strategy involved in MMA, and might be considered a snooze fest for others.  But, if that be the case, you'll get your fill from the Co-Main Event.

As always, the fights can be seen via

 http://channelsurfing.net/ and usually

(Channelsurfing the link is closer to the bottom. On justin.tv, it's just in one of the channels.  You'll probably find it fairly easily.)

And according to Sherdog on the "Pros Pick" (on the two main fights)

10 pick Rashad
11 pick Machida
7 could not decide

And on Hughes vs. Serra

8 picked Hughes
10 picked Serra

I'm just not as impressed by Machida as you and everyone else seems to be, James.

I think Rashad drops the first 2 rounds very marginally and then KTFO's machida in the third with either a sick overhand right that put his lights out, or a lead hook and some ground and pound for the TKO ref stoppage.

I think serra takes the upset from hughes simply because he wants it more. He has more to prove, he's the underdog, and he knows hughes underestimates him. I see hughes taking him lightly and serra coming up and dropping him more than once w/ his hands, a la mir vs nog.

As far as the other fights go, god damn, sean sherk is a handsome man.

Oh and i just learned to throw head kicks and super man punches in undisputed so if u wanna play against me im going to ruin your life, just keep it on the feet please :-)

LOL!  Well, don't have the game, or even the platform to play, so we're both SOL there.  Beast is in love with the game, PM him, he'll give ya a fight.

And, well, I'm very impressed with both guys, and can't legitimately pick a winner myself, but if I had to pick, it'd be Lyoto.  He's been nearly flawless in all of his fights.  And, as I said earlier, based on statistics, Lyoto is the most successful fights in MMA history, in any organization.  Rashad has had some close calls.  The Draw with Ortiz, the near loss to Bisping, and he was losing the fight to Forrest until he caught him in the 3rd.  So, Lyoto has a clear cut edge in fight history.  But, realistically, it's too close to call, imo.

And I don't care what happens, really, in the Serra/Hughes fight, so long as Hughes loses and Serra either chokes him unconscious or breaks a limp, or makes him go night night take a dirt nap.

wavegoodbye:

machida has beat tito ortiz, thiago alves and sokaju pretty much without being hit

obviously it's a fight and anything can happen, but I would be shocked if he loses to rashad evans, this should be a pretty good card after a crappy last couple ones

And UFC 97 wasn't bad, it was good up until the Main Event, which I still feel, personally, wasn't bad, but wasn't great.

But UFC 96 was definately no flop.  That freakin' card was AWESOME!  It was predicted to be a flop by most people here, but if you check out the thread, you can see people are very glad they got it.

altho he did dominate tito for most of the fight, he was apparently very close to being submitted via triangle choke late in the 3rd, tito isnt known whatsoever for strong subs and he is basically a scrub these days, so its obv Machida is far from untouchable. Also he didnt beat alves, he beat thiago silva, who hasnt fought anybody outside of houston alexander (who is a can anyways) so its not like beating tito, silva or sokaju (who seems to gas instantly after the 1st round) is that impressive, he hasnt even fought a real ufc top 10 guy, nevermind the champ. This will be his 1st real test in the ufc.

True, Tito almost got him and the end of the 3rd, but the choke was never cinched.  Lyoto is a legitimate black belt in BJJ.  If you re-watch it (as I did a couple hours ago), Lyoto's shoulder was outside of Tito's legs.  The choke will never work from there.  Lyoto escaped from that with relative ease.  Not making excuses for the guy, just saying what happened.  (And Tito isn't know for submissions because of his style.  He's got them, and he's pretty good at BJJ, just almost never uses it.  Hence why, to my knowledge, no one has been able to submit him, at least not in recent memory)

And it's Soak-A-Jew, ldo

Ah, thank you for the third link.  :)  Hopefully we don't lose it in the middle of the fight again, like we did with the last card.
