so me and like 6 or 7 buddies are out at this bar drinkin and what not. around midnight we decide we're gonna hit up another bar right by there, and ask for our bill. so we get it, and because the place serves "beer bongs", which is basically a big ass tube of beer and you get one for like 4 or 5 people, there was some confusion on how to split the tab. anyway, we get tab and are in the process of paying when the manager comes up and is like(girl) "you guys having a good time, ect ect. oh well then how come you only tipped my waitress 2 dollars on a 200 dollar bill"
immediately im like wtf, we havnt even actually payed yet, let alone gotten to the tip, wtf are you talkin about bish?
she kinda gives this confused look and trys to continue saying that we didn't tip right or whatever, so i start being kind of a dick head saying she is completely wrong, we havnt payed let alone tipped and either way who the fuck are you to come up and ask us about tips regardless.
so after that she says shes gonna go sort it all out, comes back with some vouchers for free shit i guess saying she is really sorry it was a mixup with another table and some other bull shit, and me and my friends pretty much brushed off her apology and told her how unprofessional it was to do that and how awful she made her business look.
the only reason i felt bad because the server(who was pretty cute and really nice and sorry no pics, ill try and remember a camera next time i go up there) came back kinda crying and felt really bad about the whole situation. but we tipped 25%, so didnt feel too bad.
just curious how ot would react. go....

I understand ur point, but don't you think there comes a time when the customer should kind of acknowledge the fact that they're really fucking up ur night and either compensate u for ur time or GTFO. I know there's nothing I can do other than keep pouring them water, offering coffee, or whatev, but sometimes people just don't get the hint. Another thing that's important to note, is that my restaurant is regularly on an hour long wait so these campers are also making a worse experience for the new set of customers.
Wow I thought I was the one getting served here. I'M THE FUCKING CUSTOMER. What if i'm trying to close a deal with a client and we finish eating. Do I have to GTFO and potentially lose my deal? Fuck you if you are server and you think that way.
This thread is retarded but its not the fault of nobody here. The states and any other country were people feel that they need to be tipped no matter how the service is need to do what they do in South America.
at 10 - 15% service charge at the end of the bill. simple. We tip extra only if the service was outstanding. I really hate the fact that your service changes if you don't tip.

This pretty much sums it up.
That would be great to see a group of 4 people go out to a restaurant. Find a table. Go over get their own place setting. Get off their ass go get a drink for themselves. Meet back at the table. Shit forgot the bread somebody go grab it. Go order their appetizer from the cook. Go run up to the window and check to see if its done while the other 3 people are waiting at the table.
Yell at the asshole cook who doesn't really give a fuck if you ever get your appetizer because he is making the same hourly wage no matter what. Finally you get your appetizer now you need another drink and you have to order your entrees from the cook. You didn't really like the appetizer that much so now you have to go deal with the the cook directly, grab yourself another drink and order the entrees while someone else in your party clears the salad plates....
Well shit, I don't go the back of the plane to get my water nor do I go downstairs to the laundry room to get my clean towels at a hotel. Why is my responsibility to make sure this employees who enhance my experience get paid? it is the responsibility of the restaurant to pay their servers in order to enhance my experience as a customer. How to do that without losing revenue? make your food a little more expensive or put a 10% service charge at the bottom of the bill.

I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth the effor, I'll give them something, a little extra something. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

if you didn't pay anything at that point, she is wrong, obv. but you said she was complaining about her $2 tip. if there was $2 leftover, something was paid. in that case, i admire her for doing that. $2 tip is an insult. how long was it from when you paid to when she came up to you? or, did she confuse you with another table that paid and confused it with you? i'm confused.
