He probably will stick around in Seattle, but there are rumors that if the contract demands are too steep, they will have to shop him. The Red Sox could offer a package centered around Buchholz and some of their other top prospects. Boston would have to put together a package of Buchholz, Casey Kelly, Ryan Westmoreland, and Lars Anderson/Daniel Bard for the M's to deal their franchise player.

Extend Hudson, re-sign Laroche and Gonzalez, call up Heyward, and trade Vazquez.
they got Hudson done. listened to him on 680 this morning. I agree with signing Gonzo > Soriano. I don't agree on trading Vasquez and I don't think they'll call up Heyward until June (same thing they did with T. Hansen)

It's not like I don't want him on the team but there's too many starters making too much money and I'd rather get a nice return from a Vazquez deal than take a beating on a Lowe deal.
Heyward doesn't really have anything left to accomplish at the minor league level imo, and the Braves need a corner OF, might as well use the top prospect in baseball.

Red Sox
- Adrian Gonzalez
- Hanley Ramirez
- ARod getting AIDS
so f'n this ^^ but we're not going to get Hanley. Sign Bay, get rid of Lowell, move Yuke to 3rd, Gonzalez at 1st. sign Gonzalez for short to platoon with Lowrie. coffin up Wake and Tek, Sign a 4th or 5th pitching guy. Lackey would be nice.
Sox WS appearance 2010!

Looking at the numbers it looks like the Braves can go 2 directions without dumping a salary.
Keep Vazquez and bring up Heyward, in addition to re-signing LaRoche and Gonzalez. In this scenario they'd likely have to trade either Lowe (while getting very little in return and likely paying up to 30% of his salary) or Kawakami (IDK about trading Kenshin, he was better than league average in his first year of MLB and his contract is very affordable).
Or they could use Vazquez to aquire a middle of the lineup power hitting OF with a large expiring contract in a year or 2, then they probably have to pass on LaRoche in favor of Gonzalez to make payroll. If they keep all 6 starters there isn't much financial flexability to improve the offense or bullpen, IDK if LaRoche is even affordable after keeping all 6 starters. I honestly wouldn't mind dropping 2 of Lowe, Vazquez and Kawakami. I'd be very comfortable with Reyes or Medlen holding down the 5 spot if it meant a more productive offense and bullpen.
It's pretty lame not having much payroll room when you have 2 pitchers, a shortstop, and a catcher all playing way above league average and making less than $5M per year combined. Derek fucking Lowe imo, guys going to make more next year than it will cost the Braves to pay Jurrjens, Hanson, Escobar and McCann for the next 3 years.

The guy had one off year. I'm not ready to write him off just yet.
