the fold is good but your line is a mess. I think every street is a disaster.

what would your line be?  new to cash games and just curious to see your line vs. his and hear a little reasoning.

why are you playing $2/$4 if you're new to cash games?

Seems like a good fold you arent beating very much. But seems like you are kinda overplaying your hand here on flop and turn. Tough spot having small overpair OOP here tho. I think i would check call or lead flop here.

pretty much what panda said. Although i might check call flop and make 1/2 pot lead on turn because it is possible you have best hand and you dont want to give overcards free look at river. if raised you can fold.

check raising flop turns your hand into bluff because u really cant stand any pressure on flop or turn. So check raising flop is last line id take.

the 10 should be a scary card to him as you checkraised the flop so hes def got you beat.

First off, I don't play 2/4, but I'll at least give you a line or two to think about.

I think you might have been pushed off by a guy who thought you were defending your bb and could put you on hitting top pair on the flop.  When the 10 came, he knew you'd be hardpressed to call with just a seven, so he pushes.  I think this is a smart play on his part because the 10 makes a lot of hands he could have played in late position.  You just have to be able to narrow down his range a little to make a good decision.

How were you playing?  Tag, lag?  Do you defend at all?

Another obv read he might have had was that you were playing big cards that missed the flop.  He could have thought that you put him on two over cards as well and c/r him to pick up the pot.  When the ten came and you bet out again when the ten very rarely would help big cards that you would be playing.  At this point, he pushes.

There's always the possiblility of a set or overpair, but I think he reraises on the flop and/or keeps you in on the turn.  Certainly don't discount this too much though b/c if he's tricky, his line might make sense for these hands.

Lastly, he could have played suited connectors here...something like 89, T9, JT.  I'm sure you can fill in the blanks based on his play and see that these hands make sense as well.

At any rate, I'm sure you get the idea that I don't think his push feels very strong.

If you're really new to poker, try stepping down a level or two.  There's no shame in killing a .50/1 game.

im never cold calling a raise with 99 from the BB. On the flop i like c/r for obvious reasons(value, protecting your hand, etc etc). On the turn i also do bet once again for value and to protect my hand but when he shoves you just gotta narrow his range down to w/e and call with the right equity. Its a tough spot on the turn but its all player dependent. http://pokeracesoftware.com/.

I like your play here and I think you made a good fold. I think this player made a sneaky "stop, go" move on you, hoping for you to call off your stack.
