I am getting married July 16, 2010.  My job alone won't cut it, so I figured why not Poker.  I am not looking to do this obviously like BOKU, in a month.  But can someone give me an outline on what to start with and when should I move up? Also I don't want to move up to the nosebleeds as I am not as confident high up there.  What level should I stop?  Any advice woudl be appreciated.

WTF is with all these people thinking its easy as pie to turn $xxx into $xx,xxx?  If it was that fucking easy EVERYONE would do it.  If you need to come on here to ASK us how to do it then you are obviously very far from being able to obtain your magical goal.  But please, do try.

grind low limit sng's and some mtt's
hopefully u make some dough playing the sngs and eventually hit a decent score in a mtt to boost ur roll then move up limits a bit

sitngos are dying, its pretty hard to turn 500 into 30k, gl with your quest. I will say some of these posts are ridiculous, you cant just deposit and ask people how to run into 5figures, poker isnt that easy

Have you ever played poker before? Are you good at poker? What games are you good at? MTTs, SNGs, cash? How much are you looking to play?

These are all questions you have to answer before the original question can be answered.

I would like to know why you would spend 30k on a wedding in this ecenomic enviorment? Seems -ev to me. Sorry... couldn't resist.

I wouldnt focus so much on a set amount.  $500 to $30,000 is kind of setting yourself up for failure.  Just try to be a winning player and progress your game.  If you focus on playing good and staying within your limits the money will take care of itself.  Not saying your gonna turn $500 into $30,000 but thats a real longshot anyway.

I would say I am average player.  Pretty good at the 180 and 45 man SNGS.  I am just thinking if I did this the right way.  Go up incrementally and go down in stakes when I have to.  I study like a fiend, but only have about 800,000 hands in total since 05.  Could I eventually stop at say the $16/$24 level and make it just playing those.  Remember I have 16 months.

And I agree about the wedding, but my fiance is worth it, and I have a good enough job.  But I just want to challenge myself to pay for the whole thing with Poker.

Maybe I should lower the goal to 10K.  And if I could do it once...

If you analyze this quest and read between the lines, he obviously is setting himself up for failure so he is broke by the time wedding rolls around and has an excuse not to get married...sounds like cold feet to me...(only kidding)

I'll join you in your quest because I need 30K for my divorce!

Good Luck and may the poker gods be with you
