PokerXFactor.com: New Interactive Quiz with Scoring
By mindwise on 01-17-2006 1:05 PM

We've been working on adding a full, interactive quiz feature to the PokerXFactor Hand Viewer and we have a test up and running. In the quiz below, the only goal is to "play like me" (stop laughing, I had to use someone's hand histories!) ... We all know there are many ways to play a hand, so in the examples below it's simply scored based on how I played them.

The real value here, of course, would be to have a hand history from a pro ... but this is just a test to get feedback. Please let me know what you think. At the end (I have 77 in the last hand), you will get a summary of how your moves matched what I did. There are 25 questions in all. And don't forget, you can animate your hand histories at PokerXFactor.com and post the Flash animation here at Pocketfives.

Thanks for any feedback!

its a great idea wise.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  However, there was a glitch I think on one of the questions.  I answered bet pot, and was told I was wrong, even though you did bet the pot.  I could have mis-clicked.  But apparently i play the opposite of how you would.  Obv rigged.  Keep em comin.

Not taking the time to give an honest answer to the quiz, but I just wanted to say that this is awesome.  Really impressed by this and no doubt it will become a basis for things to come.

Interesting...I only played 52% like you.  Most of the time I answered slightly more aggressive answers.  I never bet minimum.  Even when I flop a set I'll either fast play with a decent sized bet about half the pot or slow play by checking.

You need to put up some more difficult hands like catching a set on a suited board...or flopping trips with a suited or connected board.

Seems many of the hands were flopped sets where it's actually pretty easy to play if the texture of the board isnt super scary.

This was just a quick test. I just scanned for hand histories quickly that showed some action. But with the right set of hand histories, does this sort of thing have educational value? Thanks.

It certainly has educational value for anyone who values the teacher :) And no, that is not a slight...

I found my answers more angressive than your actions a lot too, and I found the thing I really wanted to do was not an option several times. Several times I would bet 3/4 pot or 2/3 pot etc and it seemed to be just min raise, all in or bet pot (the worst thing ever in most situations)

Great job on the software man....really good stuff.

thx for posting that, itwas definitely pretty cool. ONe thing that I think could make such an exercise have more value would be a corresponding doc that explained why you chose those particular moves.

I think its great educational value.  Like I said, i really enjoyed it, and look for more.

Exactly. BTW I also was more aggressive. Anyways, great idea.

Maybe this idea can be expanded to something like 'Play a tournament with me' in which we can see all the hands some pro like Bax played in the 500 @ Stars or some other big tourney in which the pro finished deep.
