By r_a_y on 07-22-2008 1:25 PM

get a coach, agent, accountant, lawyer  after all that smoke alot of weed.  and then maybe venture off into coke, heroin and maybe if your still alive and not in jail you have a shot. Make sure the last week before u decide to get clean and then dont eat 48 hours into it.  Stay up all night the night before drinking.  And then 30 minutes before pig out and prepare to win

Step 1: Create your own teaching website and release about 100 videos that detail your MTT strategy.

Step 2: Play in the videos opposite of how you plan on playing at the final table.

Step 3: Profit.

First off, congrats big time.

Enjoy yourself with your time off.  3 months of layover sucks, with such high anticipation you must be going through.  Such large $$$ to ponder for 1## days...

You should definitely continue to tweak your game and communicate with your peers about strategy.

Playing in large (10k) buyin tournies in the mean time can be good to keep your chops up, but it would also give your competitors as well as your competitor's associates opportunities to pickup on your tendencies, tells and style.  Granted that the final table of the WSOP main event and most any other tournament or point of any tournament will likely play very different, that must be kept in mind.

That's definitely my take on the game part.

Aside from that, get a jump as far as investments and marketing opportunities.  And an agent is also good advice i've read from here.

Best of luck to you Sir.

Best of luck Scott, rep Ontario well! :)

Oh, and investing in Annette to fine-tune your game is a fantastic idea - she's a great coach!

Congrats on making the Final Table Scott!!!

to be honest with you, i've seen the interviews you conducted with pokernews / pokerlistings leading up to an after you made the final table.  inasmuch as this is a life changing situation you need to "tighten up your interview game."  Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Jamie Gold, and Jerry Yang all displayed at least a modicum of charisma while on camera.... I would seek help in emulating that.  Sheer charisma alone can generate monies for you away from the table.  Hire a PR specialist!!  Maybe an agent as well....

This post is not meant to flame or degrade you, I am being 100% honest. Scott Montgomery has to be "marketable."  congrats again.

Hire a Private Investigator to find out as much info as they can on your final table mates especially what coaches they are hiring if any.

Then double whatever they are paying their teacher to show them the wrong way ;)

seriously just play your game it's what got you here just have fun.

play as much live poker you can. study the other 8 you'll be facing, and study your image as they perceive you and how you can change that to throw them off guard

About the Spain vacation:

I, as Spaniard, know what I'm talking about when I say this:

1: Do NOT, under any circumstance, bring a girlfriend, or someone who could possibly become your girlfriend, to Spain. And I'm definitely not joking. You will by hypnotized by the thrill ion beautiful women you'll see. It's my opinion that every man, and woman, should go a couple weeks to Spain or Italy, before getting married or engaged.

2 : Find 2 days to go visit Toledo's Cathedral. I'm not a religious person at all, but the moment I stepped in that place for the first time, remains in my memory.

3 : Do NOT eat paella in a touristic restaurant. Get a cab, wherever you are, and ask the cab-driver to take you to the best "home-made style" restaurant in town. In Spanish, say" restaurante de comida casera".

4 : While in Barcelona, do the 3 things every tourist talks about after visiting the city: Go to  Gaudi's " Park Guell ", " Sagrada Familia " Cathedral, and walk "Las Ramblas". Also, go have lunch to a place called " Els 4 gats ". It's close to Ramblas.

Enjoy, repeat every couple years.

Congrats, and good luck.

Andres

Good for you !  Be yourself dude.

BTW....instead of Spain for single men, definitely go to Bangkok.  The memories will last you a lifetime.

norcalonica:

Do what you did before you turned into a poker playing degen like the rest of us, go kick it with fam and friends as much as you can because your life is most likely going to go through a major transformation and its going to be hard to be the same person afterwards if you come into fame.  go treat yourself to some new toys while your at it and find a smart money man.

good foresight here
