In episode 5 of the WSOPE Martin Johnson makes a hero call with king high versus Kenny Tran. Annette is sitting on Johnsons left and she applauds his call. As she is clapping her hands she brushes a chip off one of her tall stacks and it falls to her left. The guy on her left palms this errant chip. Did he return it?

If Annette says he didn't return this chip to her how should I proceed. I saw a crime take place. Am I morally obligated to somehow try to right this wrong? Does my not doing anything make me as guilty as the lowlife scum who grabbed the chip?

You can download this incriminating video at thepokerbay.org if your stomach can stand watching this dispicable act, which takes place about 14 minutes into the show. You can also click the link below to watch it on PokerTube. Best viewed in full screen mode.

Hmmmm...in the United States (unless there is some backwards state that I'm unaware of), you have no legal obligation to report a crime taking place, even if it occurs 5 feet in front of you (this even applies to such violent crimes like rape, etc.).  You simply cannot do anything to hinder or frustrate law enforcement's investigation, and you certainly cannot do anything that might enable the perpetrator(s) to commit the crime.

Whether you have a moral or ethical obligation is another questions.  I believe that in most circumstances, people do have a moral or ethical obligation to report a crime they witness, and accordingly, I (as well, I'm sure, as many many other P5ers) commend you for taking this bold step.  Well played.  (be careful though not to take the law into your own hands--you should notify the proper authorities and let them do their jobs)

The purple chip was only worth 500, so at least it wasn't a detrimental loss.

It was easy to see how she didn't notice it was knocked off her stack as she hits it with her watch. Because of her clapping motion ( easy to bring his attention to her movement ) and how quickly he scooped he definitely knew it was not his. She could have easily splashed entire stack into this guy and possible created a situation where it might be difficult to tell who's chips were who's. Good lesson there.

Scumbag nonetheless. His face is visible in the video - someone will recognize him.

How big the chip was is irrelevant, this is unacceptable stuff.

1% chance it was a mistake, and only if it was the blind guy that SCTrojans slowrolled to her left.

TO whom ever said, "this is poker, you are accusing someone of cheating, you better have hard evidence..."

Just wow.  You need to open your eyes.  People are playing a game for hundreds of thousands of dollars, I don't doubt people will try to take whatever edge they will get.  IF there is even any marginal evidence of someone cheater, it is probably true.
