Annie Duke - UB - and Congressional Hearing

Ok, so Wednesday, Annie Duke will be testifying before a judiciary hearing supposedly working on our behalf to help establish consistent enforcement policies for online wagering.  I applaud her efforts in this regard.

Yet I find it ironic that she (along with Phil and Antonio), the 3 big faces of UlitimateBet, have said nothing about the AP cheating scandal and/or the multitude of inconsistencies in policies that UB uses (see: Gank's recent UB posting).

I'd love to see what she has to say if one of the Congressmen ask her about what happened at AP, her association with that management, etc. etc.

Sure, I realize she is just a marketing face for UitlimateBet, but it sure is quite ironic that a person employed by the biggest cheats in the industry is up there testifying on behalf of the industry.

I urge you to contact all the members of the Judiciary Committee and inform them of what happened at AP.

Maybe she will testify about the 100s of BOTs on UBET that Queen Rube supports.

Like they don't know already.

And you think it is a good thing that Congress be innudated with information that confirms the belief of most members, that online poker is bad for people, that  they cannot stop kids from playing, and that online poker sites are used for money laundering.

I think a mass contact of all judiciary committe members letting them know that even online players believe that poker site can do whatever they want without consequence would clearly alleivate their concerns.

Im Proud to have Annie Duke speaking on our behalf.  If only 10% of poker players were as committed, through time and money spent and efforts and energy put into this cause, as Annie is to this fight, it wouldnt be a fight.  Annie Duke isnt speaking tommorow as a rep of UB, she is speaking as a well known poker player representing all of us, and she will do an excellent job.

Guilt by association doesnt hold much water, and bash a site all you want, but when you call out peoples names and there reputations, there better be some concrete proof that the person was involved.

First: Why run from the truth? Turn and make the cheating scandal a positive by stating they were routed and exposed.

Second: Annie Duke speaking on behalf of all poker players! Thats a joke... there many others who would be a better representative.

I'm sure that Congress will be satisfied that alert poker players will come down hard on sites that don't prevent minors from playing and that may participate in money laudering, etc  Don't forget, the members belief that gambling is immoral and that these sites are run by shady characters.  But hey, vigilant poker player can root out all things bad and make them right.

The AP situation, if good for anything, highlights the need for regulation and enforcement, not that players can catch cheaters and force the site to make things right.

All I am saying is that the AP situation is not something that anyone needs to make a big deal about because it is more a negative than a positive.

Its a start toward change. Do they know? I certainly hope so and will do everthing in my power to make sure they know before tomorrow's hearing. I want to see online poker run in the US not on the Kahnawake Tribal lands or the jungles of Costa Rica.

Edit:

Let me clarify. US citizens are going to play online poker one way or another. Online poker is "unregulated in the US". Lets bring it home. Lets make it clear "bad things" are going on with it now. Lets clean it up and keep those green backs :( in the USA.

Annie will do a great job as a spokesperson.  She spoke very intelligently against the UIGEA last year on the CNBC interview with Mike Sexton.

All of you who are trying to turn this into a AP/UB thing need to stop your witchhunt regarding the hearing.  Sure AP was greatly in the wrong in what it did and how it handled it.  But this hearing is about internet gambling as a whole not about one or two sites.  Corruption occurs everyday in any industry and all of us are being cheated in some way or another on a daily basis.  Let Annie speak for us and present her case for legalized internet gambling.  It will help us all in the end.

The only thing wrong with Annie Duke being a spokesperson is that she can speak English faster than most Mexicans can speak Spanish.  Whoa down, Annie.

Totally agree, RichardHurtz.  Make it legal in the U.S., and make any insider cheats (or anyone else) legally accountable.  Send a few people to the pokie and see how quickly stuff changes.

King Rube, dude you're ingorant... poker doesn't need a poker player to represent poker in Washington.

Poker needs someone that the average person will get behind, have confidence in and that has demonstrated competence in the past.

Sorry to burst your little bubble... Annie Duke is not that person.
