Two people will be implicated here, you can probably guess who.  One is going to be removed from online poker forever and one is going be removed for a fair amount of time.

I was asked not to post specifics and that AP's statement is going to be detailed and is going to be released Sunday morning.

I had to look up 'cliff notes' to find out what it meant, we are not all from the USA
you know (UK), but I guess people tend to think expressions familliar to them are
familliar to everyone!!
Anyway if it has been deleted how can I read it?
However I can probaly guess what you would have said, most people harbour deep
routed suspicions about online poker.
One of my friends who does not play poker asked me "But how do you know it's
not rigged?"
At the time I could say, "Well as I am winning a regular amount, if it is rigged then
they are not very good at it!!".
I coud not say that today though. Of course not being able to win much anymore
may be due to other reasons than cheating but I always knew it would not last.

I knew the bad players would leave or get better, or cheat!!
It's a struggle to break even, and when you play badly, well you know what will happen!!

However I enjoy playing for fun anyway and I can get that playing for play money
if I want. I will never become a 'financer' of the poker industry.

Im not really an "out for blood" type.  Honestly, I started out simply perturbed by APs ridiculous first statement that arrogantly flew in the face of basic logic.

But, it occurs to me that if people are fearful that this could have a large scale effect on online poker as a whole the best way to deal with it is to go after Scott Tom (and in extension, Absolute Poker as a whole for not being straight forward at the forefront) to the fullest possible degree.

If they are seperated and made a harsh example of, it makes the whole situation come across as players using the tools available to them to insure online poker is a fair game REGARDLESS of a individuals, and individual companies attempting to take advantage.  SCORE ONE for the good guys and online poker as a whole.

If it is underplayed...all that people will take from this is: "See...online poker IS rigged!"

If protecting the growth of this industry is truly an issue, AP needs to be made to answer some serious allegations and probably ultimately go to jail.  Scott Tom and any accomplices should definately have charges levied against them somehow.

Ya but what about going forward. I play on Pokerstars. I could give a shit less what happened on AP because I never played there.

It got uncovered. I have not deposited on Stars since. I want to so bad though. What is fifty bucks right?

Your right pal and I was just about to edit. I just saw it on a different thread. It just got consolidated and I feel like a hee haw lol.

I honestly don't know how to feel about depositing online anymore. I probably will deposit on stars. Probably in the next half hour. You can waste more money on other things with no potential of return. I play keno too. I buy scratchies. They have potential. Not much on lottery honestly. People do crazy with that shit though.

If i put fifty bucks on a site and run it up to one thousand bucks and actually have the discipline to wait it out for the 48 hours to cash out and get a check for 800 why not.

But illiterate?

Sure a lot of people gamble anyway, it's fun!!

You have to pay for your entertainment. poker, even rigged is a lot better
than the other options!!

I have saved a fortune on what I used to lose on slot machines and horses.

I know the odd's are stacked against me on those, but usually there is no
cheating going on, well actually there is, there is a top jockey in court right now in the UK,
amd slots are even worse.

Where there is mone there is cheating - fact of life unfortunately,

Great update and great work. I hope they move away from their whitewash rogue programmer theory.

BTW, a little late to the party, but this page is a good place to send information about the scandal to people who aren't going to wade through the forums of P5s and 2+2.

1. There shouldn't be any "superuser" accounts, period. There is no reason for such an account to exist. You wouldn't ever allow a physical poker room manager or dealer to be able to see your hole cards, the online equivalent shouldn't exist either. All fraud and collusion detection can be done on data *after* the hand is completed. This is discussed here:

http://www.egamingtoday.com/Article/AbsolutePoker/Rogue.html

2. Fine

3. All poker sites automation to detect irregular betting patterns, to detect fraud, collusion and chip dumping. POTRIPPER's play ought to be raised red flags all over the place. If it didn't, then Absolute Poker is grossly negligent in that department.

1. The company needs to be shut down, all assets distributed to players.
2. All poker companies must provide the server/user source code to the public for review.
3. All hand histories of AP must be released for public review and as requested.
4. The new AP software most definitely needs to be destroyed as the software can never be secure without complete overhaul.
5. An open-source poker site should be seeded with AP monies as private companies can no longer be trusted.

Everyone on p5's should buy Nate a beer or 2 whenever they see him. I've technically paid my due, but my roomate actually offered it to him, while I just paid for it. So maybe it doesn't count?

Nat if you are still studying law....I'd say you are going to make one hell of a lawyer.  Nice job to you and the rest involved with bringing this scam down.

So Yahoo has a brief story on the home page regarding AP... already there are a ton of ignorant comments about how "poker is  agame of chance" and the winners are preselected before the tourney starts...  I wish Yahoo wouldve covered the story better if they were going to cover it at all..
