PocketFives just received a phone call from Absolute Poker confirming the suspicions of the online poker community over the past month. While we need to be vague in this post to respect their wishes, we can say that their systems were compromised, and that they are prepared to provide the details in a statement coming shortly.
Part of the statement will include a plan to refund players affected by this compromise.
We are extremely relieved to hear this outcome, as our most important goal in all this is to see justice given to those who were cheated in this process. Pocketfives is extremely proud to have played a part in the process of uncovering the impropriety that has occurred. We would of course like to thank all the other parties who played a key role in this process—specifically the folks that have been posting here and at twoplustwo.com.
This is great news for everyone. Keep your eyes out for the statement.

Is AB using this whole "geek" kid as a scapegoat??
It all sounds fishy that after denying everything for a month and saying their systems were never compromised they come up with this??
I smell fish.
Let's see who this "geek" kid is, interview, investigation as I don't buy it too easily.
The whole "geek" angle seems like a nice little cover up story (if there to be a cover up).
Deny ...deny ....deny....and all of a sudde.................voila...."geek".

If ANYONE plays at AP or UB then they are an ABSOLUTE moron. Integrity is something earned over time and only takes a second to lose never to be regained again. If you went to a live game and were cheated would you go back to play again? When the next players are scammed at AP or UB I will say only one thing.... I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!! Dont be a moron. Once a cheater always a cheater.

I think now the online poker world should question Absolute Poker on just how long the security breach at Absolute was compromised.
My guess is this is NOT an isolated incident. How long has 'Scott Tom' been with Absolute Poker? What accounts is he registered under? I'd sure as hell go thru every single event he's ever played at Absolute and/or railed and scrutinize the play of everyone in those events for activity much like the one Marco uncovered.
One more thing... was this the act of 'Scott Tom' alone, or a group of people together?
I know i will never redeposit on Absolute Poker ever again.

Now what worries me is if "client software" has a hole for pocket cards to be seen before a showdown, who knows how many people have that code, and know how to use it. Not just on AP- For any site !
Maybe this leak needs to be addressed to software developers and make it virually impossible to happen. Super account or not.

But for the .xls file and insurmountable evidence, AP would deny, deny, deny. Makes you wonder how many "investigations" turned up "irregular play" but no actual fraud.
As a new player and (obviously) a new poster, I still think that conventional collusion is a much greater threat than this bizarre example. I also see how, from a business standpoint, AP maintained the security of their software, as it was an inside job. However, you will find me at poker site "NOTABSOLUTE.COM"

How are you going to catch the Heavy Duty JAVA Programmers that know how to see the on-deck cards at any of the Internet Poker sites?

I am literially sick viewing the tourney results for those accts linked to all of Scott Tom's buddies. All of them but Steamroller have about 4 tourneys played and all of them have HUGE wins..just sick. There are more than two ppl involved i will tell you that.
And more ppl need to get refunds for the other times that this happened...it wasn't just once..

You wil never recieve answers that you can be sure are 100% true. After all when I called them they said they never heard of potripper.

Absolute needs the death penalty. There is really no other way around it. Their statement is total garbage.
