Z,

None of the ownership interests that were involved in the scandal have any access to the business operations of AP/UB.

They are purely shareholders now, no control, no power, no influence.

As such I also started playing last week at UB again, as I take Annie at her word that much effort is being made to restore trust at UB again.

The resolution/reimbursement of players that were cheated is supposed to take place very soon, hopefully this week.

For many of us UB was our home, and if enough of the "right" people are committed towards restoring it to being an honorable site, then I support that initiative.

Forgetting all the peripheral issues, assuming that gets resolved successfully, I think we can all agree that the more viable sites that are open to the players, the better off the online community will be - competition induces sites to offer better values to players, and that is what we all want.

I don't know how you can know those things, but even if they are true the money still flows to Scott Tom. Every time you play on the site some your rake goes into his pocket. My conscience will not allow me to do that, even if I can easily win that rake back from other players on the site.

I don't mind my rake going to Phil Ivey, because I know what's good for poker is good for him. I don't mind my rake going to the mysterious owners of stars, because no site has done more for the recent growth of the game than them, especially outside the US. But I will not allow my rake to go to someone who has deliberately cheated the game for his own benefit.

Z,

I respect your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to feel that way, and I can't say that there isn't a certain amount of merit to what you say...

That aside, UB was a site that did right by it's players for quite a long time before they were sold to the Excapsa group. Many of the people involved in the day to day activities of the business end of UB are my friends, and they too were profoundly hurt by the sordid actions of a few people.

They are trying to make amends and I have confidence that the right mechanisms have been put in place to move forward with confidence, thus I choose to support them.

My support is not a vote for Scott Tom who is but one of the shareholders, it is a statement that I believe in the core of the people running UB, and moreover, that I believe they are making a lot of good decisions in attempting not only to restore our trust, but to offer a better product.

If I had to pick one guy that is bullshit proof and helps in moving UB forward it would be Bax, so I applaud that business decision and I hope it is one of the key points in the timeline of the turnaround of UB.

Good for Bax, he deserved this a long time ago when he started having success in the live poker world, as if his online resume wasn't enough to begin with.

I just threw up in my mouth a little. Bax has become one of the most trustworthy names in online poker and then he does this? I cannot believe that he would sign a deal with UB in light of recent scandals.

How old are you? are you that naive? do you have no clue on how a business works?

(Not that I'm someone special but besides this post I usually really agree with your posts)

Damn that says you really have no clue.

Signing Bax can only be a good thing.

He's well-liked, business savvy, and unofficially represents online poker in many ways.

I'm sure with as much as he has he would not sign as a pro simply for monetary reasons, he must believe that the site is trying to improve and feels he can confidently endorse what he is being paid to endorse.  The simple fact that they chose such a viable candidate to represent the site means they are doing everything they can to bring UB back to an elite status among online poker sites.

Its pretty laughable how naive people can be.

Owners own the company.......get it......they cheated customers......get it.......only discovered because of players......get it........no refunds more than 1 year  going........
and of course the real kicker - No one will be punished of course.  Yeah i like that company and I will endorse them with my name - Go UB!

Online poker will never be reputable as long as people stand up for sites that thrash the industy with a bad rap.  My best guess is that Bax got some kind of deal tied with gross or net profits - otherwise why would one of the largest backers of online poker endorse a site that has a cheating scandal CURRENTLY going on

And i don't want to hear any crap about how its in the past - or how they have a release coming - 1 year ago they stole money and cheated people - and returning the money years later when you caught byt your customers does NOT make things right - clue in people.

Jeeze Bax did you really need the money that bad, all joking aside i dont know you and have never met you so who cares what I think but I'm just a bit taken back that someone of your stature in the online community would endorse UB - shocked is more like it. No hate - but I just don't understand - the only thing that would make sense is that the $$ would be life changing for you and I hope it is because I'm pretty sure being a UB pro will change your life either way.

It is sad to see how so many of you have no clue how a business operates.

BR you really need to pull your head out of your ass and learn a little something about corporate governance and operational flow.
