This is truly one of the most monumental accomplishments in tournament poker's history.  It seems that we are able to find something unique and noteworthy in almost every big buy-in tournament win.  Whether the win comes from an online player, a poker legend, a beginner, etc., there is always a story to go with it.  None of those stories are half as interesting or iconic as this win.

An 18 year old, female, predominantly online player takes down the first ever WSOPE Main Event.  Annette is both the youngest person ever to win a bracelet and the only woman to ever win a WSOP ME.  Oh yeah, she also won two million dollars.

Congrats Annette.  I can hardly imagine how much more success you have ahead of you.  We are all incredibly lucky to have you as a part of these forums.

Paul, I couldn't agree more with you, and if you don't believe me, go watch the replay of last night's ft (if for no other reason then my expert 5 minutes of commentary and my random wise-cracks from the rail) and take a look at how emotionally invested I was in her.  I really think her winning has opened my eyes to all that is good and wholesome in this world again.  This chick is an absolute stud, who is simply getting her feet wet in the live poker circuit (granted this was more like a high-dive cannonball into the water).  I think Annie Duke said it best 2 days ago (right before Annette busted her obv):

Annette: This is my 1st TV table.
Annie: Trust me, it won't be your last.

Not sure that's really sunk in for me yet.

Congrats.

What's so awesome is that it feels like we won too.  I haven't been this happy that someone won a poker tournament since...ever.

It is funny how a girl, that most of us will never meet has had such an impact.  Would the reception be as great if lilholdem, or Imperium, or SCTrojans won the event?  Maybe, but probably not.  We love those guys too.  But this young girl is like everybody's little sister.  We have no envy, no jealousy.  We love seeing her do well.  Annette has touched all of us Poker players in a way, that she will never understand.  Someone on here said that a few of us might have gotten choked up.  I was trying to explain to my girlfriend why it meant so much that she won the event.  She kept saying, "Why do you care so much?"  I didn't have an answer, but I was glued to that monitor.  Praying for that Q to hit on the river.  Thank you for all you have done within the Poker community Annette.  Congratulations on a Classy victory.  You have thousands of people thinking about you this morning.  And we are all smiling and thinking we are part of this as well.  GL in the future!

Thanks for a truly wonderful ride Annette.  Been following this thing at work since last week when you were in the top Day 2 chip counts.  Was sooo happy when they finally moved you to the feature table.  From the Q7s to take Annie out, to the 33, the 55 for the flopped set to stay alive (pwnage)...I couldn't stop watching.

I turned the two women poker players in my office on to you, and the more avid player is always saying to me "I want to be her" every time I email her about you.  You're an inspiration to us all!

F*** best woman player, youngest player...you're just a top player PERIOD.

Stay grounded.  Can't wait to see what the future holds for you.
