So, for a few months now I have been playing to pay the bills and it has been going pretty well. I have noticed a trend though. I make enough to pay the bills and have some spending money, but I seam to notice a pattern.
I seam to always make what I need to make to pay all my bills in the first week and a half or so of a month, then I sort of lose my motivation for the rest of the month and put in hardly any volume for the rest of the month. This would be all good and what not except I always dream about grinding up a better roll. Does this happen to any other lower limit guys?

How's it working for you? If it ain't working, change something, like play more maybe?

Sounds a lot like me but I have a job, and actually it's more like I play a lot for the first week and run bad then basically quit for the rest of the month, so maybe the opposite of me I guess?

Yeah, it really isn't much of a complaint. I was just curious if it happens to anyone else. I have a buddy that plays to supplement his income and he thinks I am crazy. He can't imagine not putting in more hours if you are making good moneys playing poker.

Yeah, I'm a little like that. I've been very curious about what my deal is. I'm very happy in life, so, I think it might be that once I get what I need for the month I have a fear of hitting some kind of God aweful downswing and having to fight to get back what I already had.
Who knows?

Buy a car or house and you will be motivated for another monthly payment....

I am not a pro and will not be in any way for quite some time but I imagine that at some point that you will have to play on days where you just dont want to or just dont care. Thats what makes it a grind. I suppose that if you really want to have a larger BR, you are going to have to play way more, in fact, I would probably want to play more just because at some point (after you have paid all of your bills) you are freerolling and any amount you accumulate can be added to your permanent BR. I suppose for that to be successful though, you really have to be what my friend likes to call a "life nit" and get used to not spending money.
CLIFF NOTES: Get used to (maybe even addicted) making money instead of spending it or not making money. Every hour you choose to relax is an hour that you could have played (made $$$).

Get a job like most people in the world. Look at is this way, a job is guaranteed money. Work 40 hrs to pay those bills and those expenses that you need to live along with the big ticket items. On your spare time why don't you grind for some extra money. Now, you don't have to worry about volume but instead worrying about winning and not the monetary aspect. Just a thought.
