for the SNG grinder how do u play it

I think the toughest spot in a SNG comes up pretty regularly for me and i never play it the same way twice it seems. Heres the scenario:

BB= 100 or 150
Hero has 1250-1600 in chips
game is 5 handed
Hero UTG gets : 99,88,77,66, ATs, AJo/s

Do you standard raise? becoming vlunerable to a push that usually means your racing for almost all your chips and seems to happen whenever you standard raise here

Do you just open push even though you have 11-14 BB's

I think limping is the worst imaginable but its tough to fold AJ and 99 5 handed

Or am i just being a nit and should just gamble

MOst of the time i just push cause its a turbo and ill gamble to get chips before 1/200

heres a typical poker answer for you.... "it depends." It all depends on the stack sizes of others.. the positions of the big stacks, the players themselves (agressive, loose, tight, weak) and not only all of that... but your image!! Say you have a loose image, you dont want to shove a10 utg because you will more than likely get a call in a marginal spot. If you have a tight image you have more of a chance to get more respect since you are utg. IMO 11-14 bb's is where u need to take some gambles because once those blinds hit you, your almost at crunch time with 10 bb's. GL hope i helped.

^^what he said^^ well put sir..

i'm usually the agressor at this stage, just switching gears...so a push would be warranted in my position.

i know it depends but i play 10-12 tables at a time so only read is stack sizes but theres 4 other peeps to look at and using Fischmans method i like to play like a robot and these decisions slow me down and i would like to cut down on my hesitation so i can play more tables.

5 handed with my stack at 11-14bbs i probably open push 99+, probably AJ+, A10 probably fold but depends on table.

Typically I push w/ 11BBs or less, over 11BBs is prob 3.5x raise. Depends on who's in the blinds though. 5 handed all of those hands are raising hands for sure though.

I usually standard raise at 3x, but here I would probably raise 2.5x.  To some people it looks scarier, but depending on what happens you can more easilly get away if you feel the need to and be left with plenty.  In a turbo, and/or if the blinds are moving up soon, pushing does seem like a reasonable option.

although my rankings on sharkscope has dropped a few spots...i'm still ranked #5 on one of the leaderboards....and so basically i'm not an idiot when it comes to sngs...that being said...i would open push EVERY time...if there is a better hand out there that calls me...then so be it...always another one to play

btw i play on FTP as jas0nkiiiim...good luck~
