This is the PocketFives.com Poker Discussion Forum, where we aim to engage in meaningful poker conversation. You have to register before you can post. If you haven't done that yet, join our community by clicking here and creating your username and profile.
This board is monitored by p5s admins and more than 30 different user moderators. Below are the rules we use to monitor all of our forums. Please abide by these rules to keep the PocketFives.com experience enjoyable for everyone.
If you have any questions concerning any moderation issues, please do not hesitate to send our head moderator, David Huber, a private message. Discussion of our moderation policies and/or decisions on the boards will be deleted as it just compounds the problem--we cannot make everyone happy with every decision, and it's unrealistic that our staff should have to answer to public criticism every time the moderators do their job. It's also futile to try and contact me personally about these issues, as 1) I generally won't know anything about what happened, and 2) I will simply refer it to our moderation team. In general, you will want to visit our Contact Us page to determine who to contact about various site issues. Posting moderation complaints on the public boards will generally result in a suspension of posting privileges.
• Inappropriate Content: Porn, sexism, racism, and anything else that may be offensive to a large group of people is not allowed on PocketFives. Posts of this nature should be deleted and the author (upon first offense) should be alerted that such posts are not permitted. Images posted in the Poker Discussion forum that could be considered as off topic will immediately be removed and likely result in an account suspension.
• Spam and Solicitation: Any promotional posts by users, specifically posts providing some sort of affiliate link or posts providing links to for-profit websites, are to be deleted right away. Requests to buy or sell goods (including T$ and W$) are also not allowed. Another type of solicitation not allowed is a post asking people to contact you privately. Posting asking for people to PM you or posting your AIM or MSN name asking for someone to contact you there is not allowed. PocketFives.com does have advertising deals with some sites, and the staff is responsible for providing an accurate and up-to-date list of those sites for our user moderators. Spam posted by a first-time poster is grounds for an immediate ban.
• Rakeback/propping discussion: PocketFives has a forum set up to discuss the PocketFives Rakeback Program. Discussion and/or promotion of other rakeback providers is NOT allowed anywhere on PocketFives.com. Any post regarding rakeback in the Poker Discussion Forum will either be moved to the Rakeback Forum or deleted, depending on the content of the post. Posts about propping will be deleted. • Off topic replies/trolling: Replying to a thread with something that is completely irrelevant/unhelpful will likely result in a suspension of your account privileges, as it just forces our moderators to waste time deleting posts and encourages other off topic replies. If you're not interested in contributing a legitimate reply to the thread in question, please refrain from posting in it so others don't have to sift through useless replies.
• Issues with Thread Titles: We made a separate category about this because people do it so often, and it's extremely annoying. DON'T post a thread title in all caps. Your post isn't more important than all the other posts in the forum, even if you think it is. Posts with titles in all caps may be deleted, unless a moderator feels like typing it all out for you in lower-case. Repeat violators of this rule will be suspended. In addition, when making your thread title, try to summarize the idea of your thread. This is very basic, yet many people don't do it. Don't post "Need help with something" or "Very Important Question" as your thread title. Don't post "You won't believe this!" or "Interesting story inside." Make your thread title have to do with what's actually in the thread, so that people have some idea of what they're opening before clicking through.
• Forum Abuse: Posts that fall into this category include "bump" posts, where a user replies to a thread in an effort to move it to the top of the forum. The life of a thread should be determined in large part by its natural popularity and any artificial means to keep a particular thread near the top of the boards should be removed. Another subset of this category is "scrolling," where a user posts several repeated threads in a short period of time (in one or more forums). All duplicate posts of this nature are to be deleted.
• Potential Scams, Site-to-Site requests, etc.: Because of scamming problems we've had in the past with players asking for site-to-site transfers or sales of tournament entry fees, we can't allow any posts of this nature, even if the post is from a trusted source. All such posts should be deleted, as well as posts such as, "where can I go for help with a site-to-site transfer?"
• Begging/Backing Requests: Requests for money, or requests to be backed will be deleted. Similarly, posts asking where to go to receive backing will also be deleted.
• Flaming: While we allow arguments on our forums that often become heated, some responses within threads are pointless and can only cause harm. When a person replies to someone asking a question only to call them an idiot for asking the question, the post should be deleted. Also, when threads end up in a mess of name calling, cursing, and general negativity, those sections of the thread should be pruned, whereas a post and all responses to it should be deleted completely if the entire thread is negative. Most importantly, if a thread is started with the sole purpose of berating or attacking another person (e.g., "So-and-so is a moron"), the post should be deleted.
• Posting Stats: Bringing attention to a player's profit-based statistics from another site or program in any way that could be construed as making fun of or ridiculing that person is prohibited. Posts like these will be deleted and will probably result in a ban.
• Subscription Services: Creating a thread/post soliciting free access to a premium service on another website is prohibited. This will likely result in a ban of your privileges.
• Wrong Forum: When someone posts a bad beat or something off-topic in the Poker Discussion forum, the post will be moved to the appropriate forum.
