so my gateway laptop crashed.... gg HH's. what laptop would be a good one for a mid stakes MTT grinder? i have a 22 inch monitor i use with it, but i still feel like i need at least a 15-17inch laptop monitor too. strictly for poker, running pokertracker, watching cardrunners vids, and some youtube. no heavy gaming, or music downloading. what do you suggest? oh and would definately want a higher resolution.

Im using a 17" Toshiba Satellite with a numeric pad installed (good for bet sizing) that has been working wonders. I use it at home with a dell 22" monitor for extended desktop, but it is large enough to comfortably 6table on the laptop itself when i am on the go. I hear that the new HPs are fairly good for this.

Tiger Direct has awesome prices. I recommend Acers, or myabe HP. Gateway is garbage, i used to do tech support for them. I know some people who like Toshiba, but they have WAY too much preloaded garbage for me.
ACER ftw, imo.

I recently got one from www.dell.com/outlet on the cheap and I like it a lot. The 17" has a numerical pad on the right side that I sorely missed the day I left it at work and had to fire up the old laptop to play.

"Crashed"... plz explain. Unless you're laptop is ancient and you're just really ready for a new machine, you probably don't need to replace the whole unit. Notebooks are notorious for corrupting hard disks because of all the bumps and jarring that occurs. I've had 4 2.5" drives become littered with corrupted sectors; such is life. Never keep anything important on a laptop w/o backups.
So.. if all you need is a fresh hard disk and clean install of xp why bother replacing the whole unit? Your machine will run 1000x better with fresh (and properly done) install of xp.

Man, it would've been way more exciting to report on you for P5slive if you'd had any computer components at the WSOP events.
I would've had to switch my camera settings to super fast shutter speeds for sports photography. Is that like.. street poker?
Just don't throw the bracelet, kiddo. *grin*

I bought a Toshiba Satellite(L350) a few months ago too and love it. 17" monitor, full numeric keypad, pretty thin and light, decent price (was about $800 from Best Buy), overall best value for a 17" laptop I could find after doing quite a bit of research. Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is that the screen is glossy and tends to have quite a bit of glare when I take it outside or am playing in a very brightly lit room, but most of the time it's not that noticeable. I bought the AMD version but they make an Intel one too, not sure if one is better than the other but so far so good.
