So I just got a letter from my bank stating they will no longer be accepting my online gambling site checks as of December 1st.  Everyone said nothing would change, any thoughts on whether there is any way to continue playing online in the US?

Has it occured to anyone that banks are sending out this letter to cover their ass with the new govt. regs, but are no more capable of enforcing it then they have been.  How would YOU like to be a bank charged with sorting this out with even less resources than you had a year ago and banks failing every week.. The very last thing you would want to do is run off depositers and their money.  They are between a rock and a hard place thanks to govt.  being ridiclious.  It's still legal to bet on horses and lotterys online.  How can they tell WHERE the funds are from.  So maybe this will sort itself out.  Kat

Canadian banks. Bank of Montreal, Toronto Dominion, Scotia bank. There are alot of them in the States. I'm sure they would like your business.

I have a question for you guys. If somehow the banks are able to keep us from depositing in the U.S. to gambling sites after Dec. 1st, would alternative options to deposit like click2pay or ewalletxpress work? I mean technically, they're not gambling sites so theoretically it should work right?

I thought that the only thing that was going into effect on Dec 1 was that financial institutions were no longer permitted to process payments *TO* "illegal gambling sites". Emphasis on *TO*, so that means we can't deposit, yah? I mean to those illegal gambling sites, whatever they are. I mean, is Bodog an illegal gamling site? Is Poker Stars? Is the freaking bank gonna tell you?

This means we are free to withdrawal at will? If your bank is harshing your wire, can you get on them with this? They have no say on transactions coming our way do they?

Lets be real here, online poker is so shady, this is not unwarranted. Ya I feel so terrible for all the under-age MAing scumbags who can't deposit money anymore to scam the rest of the community using the game I love, what a tragedy. Ever heard the term guilty by association?

I think Katdragon hit the nail on the head. In this economy banks certainly want our business they are just sending out letters to cover their asses and absolve them of any liability.

Also in the E-60 episode with Phil Ivey they mention that he has made millions playing online. If the government really wanted to put a stop to online poker don't you think that they would target people like him first? They don't really want to stop online poker they are just trying to figure out ways to get a fat chunk of the pie.

screw it take all monies out of banks and put monies under your bed lol.Ther are other ways of getting checks cashed, like at small grocery stores(shaws, walmart, market basket, etc.)just when you cash said checks keep the money out of the banks keep it at home and lets see how many banks beg for us to come back.

successful underage players pretty much start with 0 BRs so your logic here is pretty retarded whether they MA or not is a separate issue.

How do check cashing places work?  Do they charge you a percentage or a flat fee to cash a check?  I read Walmart does this?  Really?  Suggestions?

Some places charge a percentage but walmart doesn't.

I cashed a check this past week and it was the first time ive ever been questioned by the bank about putting a check into my bank account.  Im talking to an international tax lawyer Monday to figure out my options if this turns out to be more serious then most are making it out to be.  If I am forced to leave the US just to play, what happens with taxes and getting money back into US eventually etc etc...

Also, think alot of ppl will/would be surprised at just how much knowledge the banks have and will have on stopping these transactions
