So...I have been contacted by a bunch of friends and by a ton of people on several web forums in the last week regarding the nionio thing at UB. I want to thank everyone all for your comments and your passion on the topic.
First, I want to let you know why I didn’t respond initially. I am not conducting the investigation so didn’t really feel it was my place to comment. My role at UB is limited to revamping the tournament schedule and re-energizing the UB brand, a brand I am very emotionally invested in. Although several people have suggested otherwise, I do not have a direct line of contact with the senior management at UB on a day to day basis nor do they write my posts for me. I do all that myself. I do not have any direct information from management day in day out as to what is going on with the investigation into alleged cheating on the UB site.
I can say that before agreeing to take on a larger role at UB, I needed a high level of comfort with the way the investigation was being conducted. That it was being conducted in an upright and forthright manner that was thoughtful and thorough. I definitely sought those assurances from the management team at UB was thoroughly investigating this issue and working in a way to come to a quick resolution the issue of alleged cheating. After some super frank discussions, during which I have to say I was not kind and, in fact, rather blunt about my feelings on the issue, I came away satisfied with both the intent of the management team to deal honestly with the allegations, as well as with the integrity of the management team itself. That is coming from someone who was as skeptical as could be. As skeptical as you all might feel, trust me, I was more skeptical than that going into meeting this new team. But I have to say they are seriously guys who “get it.” Let’s all remember this management team inherited this investigation and I am satisfied with how they are approaching it. I have no reason to believe that management is not pursuing the investigation fully and completely.
That being said, I want to see the results of this investigation and UB’s final report as quickly as possible, and as quickly and badly as all of you do. I know that the management team is eager to make its findings public within the month, and I am hopeful that all the details will be released very soon, I have been told perhaps within two to three weeks. I fully expect that management will be true to its word and that we will see a full and accurate report on these serious allegations.
Until then, I will continue to promote the UB brand because it is a brand I believe in and love and am deeply emotionally invested in. I sincerely want thank you all for your comments on the schedule and I hope you will keep them coming. This is a group effort. Dialog is the only thing that will make all this better and better and give you the most kick ass schedule on the net! (At least that is my goal!).

Its good to see UB making moves in the right direction. I will definitely be playing on UB more often.

Thanks very much for the update. Hopefully this will all end soon and (although I doubt it will happen right away) we can all get back to playing happily and safely on UB.

Will this be the same type of "closure" as we saw when Absolute was required to pay $500k to (co-owners?) KGC? Do you think this "emotional investment" might be preventing a properly objective view of this whole situation?
This post has all the sincerity and honesty of an appeal by a battered, co-dependent wife of an abusive, drug-addicted husband that "I really threatened to leave him this time, and he swears this time he's really going to change."

Hi Annie,
Thanks for this update, I hope people will stop flaming now and concentrate on the new schedule which has some very good features in it.
UB's software is best in class and even though player support is sometimes slow, they always come through and are fair.
I would just like to see more Omaha 8/b or HORSE tournaments... How about a weekly HORSE tournament?

Annie,
The poker community (I believe) thanks you for the report on the current situation that is facing UB. As a businessman, I understand that you did not have direct lines up to the upper management of UB/AP. A vast majority of people in any business do not have direct lines to upper management so I personally did not expect you to be able to answer for them.
I believe had this been presented sooner and UB reps kept the poker community better informed, the issues would not have escalated into what it is now.
Since you are one of the faces of UB (that we are familiar with), it is greatly appreciated that you can provide what information you can and that you are supporting us in this matter.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, I may return to UB to play again.
There will always be flamers that are pessimistic about this situation, but the vast majority of the poker community appreciates your work and your support. We hope that UB management can provide a resolution that will satisfy all parties so this can be put behind everyone.

Thank you for responding to the ugly post's. I wish people would get a grip and quit bashing you. There is no doubt in my mind that you will produce a kick ass tourney schedule. Keep up the good work Annie you have a lot of people out there that really do support you. If you could add a little more Omaha and beef up the morning schedule that would be awesome. Good luck in your quest to make UB the best.
