Hi Pocket Fives Community,
The PPA is looking for two college age interns for the duration of the World Series of Poker. I have posted this job at many college career sites, but figured this would be a good place too. Here is what I have sent to people asking for information about the job. When you email me at bryan@theppa.org please put WSOP Internship as the subject line.
The internship will run from May
27th until July 9th in Las Vegas NV, with a possible extension to July 14th if
necessary. The main place of work will be in the Amazon room at the Rio
Casino, which is the site of the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP). The
Poker Players Alliance (PPA) will have a mobile advocacy booth set up, to serve
many functions. These function include but are not limited to, computers
for a letter writing campaign to member of Congress, a video camera to film
video testimonials, a petition signing campaign, membership sales, PPA apparel
sales, as well as hosting autograph sessions at the booth. If hired, your
primary task would be to run this booth 5 days a week, 30 hours a week.
You would be working in tandem with another intern. Secondary task would
include helping me organize and execute a series of political fundraisers
during this time, specifically for the PPA Political Action Committee
(PokerPAC), as well as for selected members of the US House and Senate if these
members so choose. Both flexibility and teamwork will be very critical
for the success of the PPA at this year’s WSOP, and you may find yourself being
assigned other tasks, such as escorting members of Congress while at the WSOP,
that come up during the course of the internship.
Some important logistical
notes. The PPA will not provide housing or transportation to Las
Vegas. The stipend payable at the completion of the WSOP will be a
minimum of $1,500, with any additional money being added solely at the
discretion of the PPA. The length of the internship will be finalized
before any offers are made to prospective candidates. You can apply by
sending a cover letter and a resume directly to me. If you have any
further questions, please email me.
