380 people in a 100 freeze and under 8k for first? 50r is like 8k for first? Simply awful and very greedy by stars if it is due to have more rake circulating quicker. Is WCOOP going to have this new awful payout? I thought point of mtts was play for first.

3/4ths of poker players have never heard of pfives or 2p2....so i am pretty sure Pokerstars has an easy decision here..
please the 75+ percent of losing players or please the 25- percent of winning/breakeven players....
you boycott..they care very little....imo
THis is exactly what it comes down to...vwp Pluv

im going to disagree provisionally...
there's no reason to have a payout of more than 10% with a buy-in of more than $10
$10 tourneys and under are tailor-made for low-level tourney players
who put more thought into sliding into the money as a confidence
booster than actually winning it.
but man, when your playing a $100+R? THOSE tourneys are
tailor-made for pros, and the payout should reflect that...hell, show
me a pro who's upset that the $50k HORSE is 'only' paying 16 players...

i wrote to pokerstars awhile back. they said payout structure is here to stay. we are pissing into the wind. they don't care. losing customers will get there attention, nothing else.

This may be true for the bigger field smaller buyin tourneys, but certainly is not for the smaller field bigger buyin tourneys such as the 1k and 100r. In fact, I'd venture a guess that an overwhelming majority that plays these tourneys are p5ers/2p2ers and we could do some serious damage if we boycotted.

1000 person tourney
buy in: 10 bucks + 1
Top 100 pay: thats 100 bucks worth of buy ins that will no doubt be redistributed.
Top 200 Pay: thats 200 bucks worth of buy ins that will no doubt be redistributed.
Cannot get any clearer that that.

Having such a large payout structure also takes away the huge advantage you have when you have a normal bubble. Players used to play tight to make the money when the bubble was significant, but now all you have to do is last like half the field to make the money. This is just one dynamic that is taken away from good, aggressive players and actually is pretty unfair advantage for the better players to take away any money significance throughout the whole tourney.

you guys can moan all you want, but if stars has hard evidence that adjusting their structure can mean more rake and make it better for the average fish, AND a huge percentage of people whining in this thread, arent gonna boycott since its their livelyhood, then by default stars can get away with whatever they want
life sucks, so do tournaments. learn cash.

I wish they paid half the field. That would be my only chance to cash on stars

Agreed that the payout structure does have issues but the same thing happens on Full Tilt at times - one tourney the other day I had to get through the 1st 2 levels in the payouts just to get money back (and then was only a dollar or 2 profit ($10 + 1 tourney). In this case they just slipped into the next level in the last few seconds of rego - I think the bottom 2 pay levels were something like $10.16 and $10.94 or the like - then went to $12 or $13.
At the micro stakes level (<$5) where I play alot I accept it (and guess that the majority of their customers play at that level hence more play = more rake etc) but I definately agree in the higher buy ins (>$50) 10% is more than adequate

The first payout spot should be at least twice the buy in for the tourny imo.
