2009 WSOP Main Event Champ Joe jcada99 Cada will be on David Letterman tonight (Tuesday). The show airs at 11:35pm ET after the local news. Should be interesting to see how he handles the big spotlight.

Trying to give his honest advice, not too close minded. Although I see why this might get some annoyance. The interviewer sounds as if Joe doesn't know how to manage his money.
But all in all, a good interview.
i think what mark was saying is that the tone of the interviewer made it seem like he felt poker was still a big gamble and if joe were to play long enough he'd eventually lose it all like everyone does. so he was implying he should go back to school and save his money because he can't grasp that some people have edges in this game

Is this not factually true? Because aside from the top of the top, most poker players go broke at some time. There is a reason that online tourney players who put in alot of volume are backed.

How many of the top 100 players on this site are currently in make-up? They have an edge, but variance is brutal and doesn't give a shit.

so glad I don't have to watch darvin moon do all these appearances. joe's handling himself well and it's good to see poker get all this coverage
I was about to comment on the exact same thing. Darvin likely would have bypassed all of these opportunities. If he had interviewed, I think all you would be hearing about poker is "running good" (gambling).

So, u r saying that a guy catching a ball on top of his helmet was all part of the 'Vegas' plan to rig that Super Bowl? David Tyree could be the greatest stunt man on the planet.
I LOOOOVVVVEEEEE conspiracy theories.

Cut Cada some slack. He's 21. Plays an online game for his job. 99% of the population would freeze up or worse on that big of a stage.
I'm 41 and I know that I would have puked before or during the show. Walk a mile in the guys shoes before you slam him. He seems fairly engaging at the poker table. With practice, he will do the same on TV.

It is only fair for me to comment since I was critical of Joe in the Letterman thread. This is how he should have handled himself on the Letterman Show... He was much more
comfortable & when the host said gambling he immediately equated it to skill such as a
game of chess. Very well done. Obviously it is hard for someone who has never been in
front of the camera to pick it up right away but you can see a vast improvement already. Nicely done Joe.

Pretty much what they are saying but i am the 1 with the tinfoil hat on because there is nothing strange going on with the poker world, done with this topic

People have to realize that most people who watch Letterman don't know the slightest thing about poker. So when Cada is on there talking about elementary poker concepts, backing etc, it seems simplistic to us and boring tbh.
Overall though If i never heard of Cada and this interview was the first I've seen of him I'd have to say he did a great job.

He did a much better job on CNN this morning... comparing chess to poker, talked about his experience and how he worked his way up from 25 cent tourneys, etc. Still slightly awkward, but either way, I agree his interviews will do nothing for poker either way

seems like a really laid back humble individual..well done and great interview

"put a million in a money market account..you should put alot more than that".
That is obviously very good advice (well, substitute "money market account" for any number of other more traditional investment vehicles as well)
Whats wrong with him rolling with a roll of "only" a million or 2 or even still getting backed for the bigger events? He seems to have signed on with stars so he may well already have that taken care of anyway. He has the opportunity to BOTH be set for life AND live the life of a pro poker player!

I dont think it is...? As long as you are an above average player and practice bankroll management you shouldnt go bust... I know many people who have maintained profits through large #s of tourneys and/or hands at cash game... Are you saying that if I keep playing poker I will eventually bust my account?? Cuz if so i may as well quit... lol
