Heres the link for those who didnt view it...

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4620840&categoryid=3060647

Ive enjoyed quite a few of the E:60 segments but I have to say I was fairly disapointed with this one....  Most of the footage was just about Ivey playing dice and very little insight into his world other than raw gambling.... I like at the end when they ask "are you ever worried if you gamble so high you might lose it all" and he says "no because pokers not gambling, its a job and if i do it long enough ill get my money back" (terribly paraphrased).... thoughts?

The segment after with the guys making these ridiculous basketball shots was much better...

What exactly do you want to know about Ivey.. Raw Gambling is his world. Thats what he does.. That all he does.

Well hes not famous for throwing dice, hes famous for being considered the best poker player in the world... thats like doing a segment on brett favre hunting or cutting grass.... Its not really good for poker to have its most talented player portrayed in a light of being a complete degen regardless if he is or not..... I honestly wouldve rather they talked about his relationship with mel and pat humpherys than that crap (no pun intended)

I didn't mind it but it seemed contrived.  I have a tough time believing that it's actually normal for him to gamble craps and fly around in a private jet all the time.  I'm not saying it's the first time he's done it but Foxwoods?  Seriously?  Maybe I'm just a skeptic but it seemed like a show being put on to make it memorable for viewers.  I'd rather see an E:60 about him hanging out in Vegas, gambling at Vegas casinos, playing online, etc.  I'd have to guess that it's more representative of his life.

didnt see episode, but i guess legally its hard for him to just come out and say, "i get tens of millions of free money each year from full tilt with no end in sight, so it's all monopoly money to me anyways."

with all the big games hes been in and free money from tilt he gets, i imagine it's pretty hard to get his blood flowing anymore. so that's where the big dice sessions etc. come into play. u have to have at least some degen in u and view money differently than normal ppl to be the best in the world, he has no fear and that is huge in poker (i think hes always had no fear before he got financially secure but now he can really be fearless much more comfortably)

Nat it wasnt contrived..    I can personally tell you that was not even close to his first trip to the Woods to play craps. Is he there everyday?  No..    But I know when he comes in cause they usually move me to a craps table to take out the really really good dealers to deal to the big time players.

according to the article in ESPN the magazine they went with him to shoot craps because that is what Ivey (or his manager) invited them to do

^True.

And I've heard him on multiple occasions speaking about various dice tours just like the one they filmed. Of course it doesn't happens everyday, but IMO Phil Ivey seems like the last person that would pile on a bunch of bs for the cameras.

All I gathered from the show was that Chad Millman is not a gambler.

Agreed. He was the worst reporter to pick to do the story.

He obviously knows very little about poker. I work in TV and that story was what we call "missing the lead." The piece didn't even talk about the fact the Ivey made the final table of the WSOP. I mean, COME ON, that's the story. Ivey's '09 run cements him as the best of all-time.

I usually like E:60 but man they dropped the ball on this one.

the story was about a day in the life of ivey gambling not what cements him as a poker player
