AN OPEN LETTER TO THE POCKET FIVES ONLINE COMMUNITY
From: Clonie Gowen
First, let me begin by apologizing to the Pocket Fives online community. Simply put, this is the most foolish thing that I have ever done and I am sincerely sorry. This is the type of action that you might expect from a teenager, but certainly not from a Full Tilt Poker Pro.
There is definitely no excuse for my actions, but I want to add a slight bit of clarification. It is important that you know that I employ an editor/collaborator, as many pros do. Rick Fuller edits most of my writing, which is something I will definitely reconsider moving forward. In a moment of very poor judgment, when editing this tip he added some copy that was obviously taken from another source - an action that goes totally against my professional ethics. In so doing, he created a tip that under no circumstance I would have submitted knowingly. He executed extremely poor judgment, as did I by not proofing the final version.
There is no excuse for this and ultimately the end product is my responsibility; a responsibility I fully accept. I will make the necessary changes to ensure that this never occurs again.
I hope this does not reflect poorly on my fellow Full Tilt Pros, all who take great pride in creating entertaining, informative and original tips for your enjoyment
With immense regret,
Clonie Gowen

Before this thread really gets started I'm going to remind everyone to keep your posts civil. We've already had to delete many posts on this topic that got way too personal and ugly. Please keep this in mind while posting your thoughts.

I'm sorry, but that's the best she can do? I wish if I plagarized someone here at school and got caught I could just say one of my roomates wrote it and get off scot free.

FOr those of you saying Clonie should do more...what the hell more can she do? Is she supposed to read every poker article ever written before submitting something? If anything, what she should do is have more confidence in her own writing ability and not rely on someone else to write for her.
She did three things: 1) Offer an appology 2) Offer an explaination and 3) Accept FULL responsiblity. When something this serious happens, Im not sure we could (or should) expect anything more than these three things. And on top of it, she basically said she's gonna fire the guy (which 100% should happen). I think Clonie did a very stand up thing and did all that is in her power to correct it. What the hell else can happen? You think she should be fired from full tilt because some jerk-of-an-editor plagerized and told her it was orginal?
Thanks for the letter Clonie.....take a week of english classes and write the articles yourself. Ive met you and youre very articulate and more than capable of writing them yourself!

My 2 cents:
I dont really understand why Clonie owes any appology to P5ers. I do think she owes an apology to those who are members of full tilt and read and trust in those tips. I would really like to read her appology to Jsup- the only true individual she needs to appologise to. I doubt that letter will be open and it is none of my business.
Clonie it was a stupid thing to have let slip through the cracks, your a professional. Although I think your apollogy to p5s is totally unnecessary, but i think it should be accepted. JSUP- expect some sort of compensation and appology, but i would not expect too much.

Lame if you ask me...Oh I didn't write it, this guy did. It doesn't make sense, it was the opening of the article. She either doesn't write her stuff at all, in which case the tips ARE Rick Fuller's most of the time, or she DOES write them and she chooses to copy other material. Either way it is really really shady.

To avoid confusion in the future maybe Full Tilt should re-name their features to "Poker Tips from unknow Editors".

um, I don't think she will be firing Rick. I could be wrong but I have never seen her without him. And I have seen her about 6-8 times whether at a tournamnet or in an airport or hotel, she is always with Rick. (and usually Christie Gazes) I thought they were dating but I can't confirm that (nor does it matter). He is definitely a very close friend or personal assistant, not just a guy who edits and writes her articles.
Apology is all she can do.

I wonder who she got to write this on such short notice. In all seriousness, I think everyone who received the tip in the mail, should also receive a letter like this in the mail. Every FTP player should know what was done. Just my 2 cents.
