It seems that some of the pros are in between a rock and a hard place on this.
What’s going to happen is that some of the pros are going to rightfully, and logically not sign this agreement.
Players (unknowns) like me are going to play the events, and sign the release because we won’t think about the future since winning the event would completely change our lives in the first place (admittedly, we shouldn’t sign, but we will).
The WPT will thrive without the pros because although people definitely like to see the Annie Dukes, and other pros, people watch for various other reasons. In addition, new personalities always emerge…I’m sure someone has said this, but “there can be a new Chris Moneymaker every event.” (Insert another name if that makes you throw up a little.)
So, the pros (that are contemplating not signing, or not signing at all) have to decide whether to gamble, and hope that somehow the WPT doesn’t thrive in their absence. That really "seems" (key word) to be their only hope of getting the words on this release to change. Of course, if they've no need for the WPT, then this becomes a non-issue.
