Live poker hand, what should I have done?

I was recently at Winstar, and was playing some 2/5 NLHE when this hand came up. Tell me what you think of the hand.

Stack sizes: me: $1350 regular: over 2k

UTG +1, a solid regular who walked away with a few grand each night I was there, open limps for 5 bucks. It is folded around to me, and I look down to see pocket kings. First thing I think is wtf is this guy doing limping UTG +1. I decide to pop it to only 15 bucks, which I immediately regret. Terrible raise. Anyways, BB is a calling station, and calls my raise. Regular thinks about it for five seconds, says 'well...' and calls.

Flop is q-9-2 rainbow. I lead out for 30 bucks, fishy calling station folds, and regular raises me to 70. I quickly call. Turn is another 9. I really don't put him on a 9 at this point. I check, he bets 120 and I quickly call again. River is a harmless seven. No flush possibilities on the board. I check the river and the regular bets 350. I think about two seconds and call. He turns over 2-2 for a boat.

I really want some insight into this hand because it has been bugging me for weeks now. Please let me know what you think was in his range here on the river.

I already know I played it horrendously preflop. My question is about the postflop action.

the way most live regs. play what did you expect him to have? When readin i immediately assumed he flopped a set, he limp calls utg +1 thats very likely he has a small pair and what else is gonna min raise you with on the flop...

anyways...raise more preflop, and you didnt play it horrible after the flop...i always try to utilize pot control here, i mean with him betting theres not much you can beat on that board besides a dry queen...maybe fold the river, but besides raise more preflop you didnt play it that badly

I agree.  This hand wasn't played badly.  You kept your losses to a minimum doing what you did....but looking at it, a pre-flop call UTG+1 and a call of a small raise after, smells like a small pocket pair.

Then the min-raise on the flop of your bet screams set if what you say about him is true (solid player, doesn't get too far out of line, etc.)

Definitely raise more pre-flop.  Granted you may not get a whole lot of action if you do that, but if you do get any action, you're getting paid for it.

On the other hand, going up against 2-2 with KK is a dream (really he only has 2 outs to start with), so I do want him involved....just UL he catches one of his 2 outs.

Let's assume that I fold on the river... can I be highly confident that I am beat here? His range of hands that beat me here is literally only pocket twos and pocket nines. My first thought was that the 350 bet seemed a little too large. I wouldn't have been at all surprised if he turned over a hand like aq/kq/qj. I could tell that he had respect for my game because he had been making small talk with me at the table about some hands and he's usually quiet, so if he had been making a play here on the river it wouldn't of surprised me terribly.

Thoughts?
