My Explanation

To understand my scenario, you must first understand my day. I picked up my brand new expensive computer from a computer store today (I tried to build it, without knowing anything abotu CPUs, I suck!). I got home about an hour before the MTTs start, and it was very hectic, and I was stressing out a ton. My Grandparents come to the house every weekend. My Grandma is an absolute poker fanatic, and I try to teach her how to play just due to her sheer enthusiasm. I stake her occasionaly, as much -EV as it is. I'll be honest, I do not conserve money the best. I staked her to play the 500k at Party. A few hours later, I bust out of Party, and am only playing 1 MTT. Finally, I am relaxed. I see that she has amassed a decent stack. I start coaching her every hand. Once she got to aobut 10k in chips, I took over, still talking to her. When I got to 100k (tripled from 33k), I asked her to leave the room, and she could watch me on the laptop. I do get nervous and emotional when I get deep, and I figured I had a real shot at it. Of course, my grandma being the kind soul that she is obliged. Before I know it, I won the thing. I am thinking of buying her a new car, but I haven't put much thought to it.

I didn't really realize people would make that big of a deal of it until 10 people started IMing me telling me to prepare for shit. Curse at me, hate me, flame me. I can't say that I do expect less.

But, I just won 140k! Not even all this flaming can take away the amazing feeling I have right now.

you've still got to win the tourney...the tough part. i don't think too many players are going to follow the 'it worked of OJ' approach.  did i say OJ, i meant JJ. it's not like he killed someone, but it would be nice for takeover rules to be established, b/c it's going to happen. there need to be specific rules about it so that serious violations can be addressed without ignorance coming into play as an excuse for low poker ethics.

I don't have an opinion either way but I don't recall that Exclusive admitted playing the account.  Am I incorrect?

I don't know JJ at all but I know people who do this and they aren't doing it to cheat or dump chips.  Just to have more chances.  It is one of the reasons these tournaments are so huge.

I really would hope JJ doesn't lose the 150k over this.  Frankly I was surprised it was mentioned.

I'm pretty sure that exclusive admitted to taking over for someone else during that tournament, but not 100% positive.

As Shaniac Jr was just discussing with a friend, the more accounts a good player enters into a tournament, the worse chance an average player on one account has of winning the same tournament. That's why people are freaking out. Shaniac Jr can relate.

Shaniac Jr doesn't think JJ, or any of his friends and acquaintances who do this, are engaged in any explicitly unethical behavior, but it seems clear they are treading in a grey area of online poker ethics. This discussion has demonstrated that much.

Since Shaniac Jr has not said it elsewhere, congrats JJ.

I agree for the most part it is just one of every one of our goals and it would suck if the 140k was taken away.

It just seems that pocketfives has started this pump your chest kind of thing that could cost this kid 140k.  I just don't know why it is so important that everyone know how good everyone is-especially at such great risk.  140k would be enough for me-I doubt it would be important to let everyone know.

There's no doubt that JJ is a ridiculously talented player, but all of these people, especially many of you "big name" players, coming out and saying that there's nothing wrong with entering multiple accounts into the same tournament is SICKENING.

Bottom line is this is bullshit.  The fact you kicked her out of the room and made her watch clearly shows me that you played 2 accounts in 1 tourney.

THIS IS UNETHICAL

THIS IS CHEATING

You guys can spin it any way you want, but I will look at JJ differently from now on.

When did him losing his 140K become an issue?

F that shit. What happens online stays online, and the information on these boards may as well be pure fiction as far as anyone at Party Poker should care.

Get that money out fast, buddy.

EDIT: I agree with the point of your post...people need to learn how to win....quietly.

There has to be better things to do then to explain yourself to a bunch of "internet folk" after winning 140k.Go out and buy an ipod and download that song with the chorus.....MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEYYYYYYYY and listen to it while pickin out a butler for your new house.
