Question

I was having a debate with a few friends; the question is, if you select 3 cards, lets say for instance the 2 7 and Jack, what is the chance one of the 3 will be on the flop? My assumption was it would be 9/13 times, since its 3/13 + 3/13+ 3/13, thus making it that, but does seem a bit high; Anyone know for certain, I know awfully easy question, but figured why not ask to make sure. Thank you in advance

 9 cards that pair.

49 cards left that we dont know.

9/49+9/48+9/47

Subtract one for each known card on flop that doesnt pair obv.

About 54%

wait, how is it 9 cards that pair? u just randomly deal a flop is what I am referring to, you do not have a 2 7 or J in your hand, but merely are betting whether any of the 3 will show, thus isnt it 12 cards, since 4 of each, and thus make it 12/52+12/51+12/50?

yes there are 12 2's, 7's, and J's combined.  You have 3 of them in your hand though.  So there are only 9 left in the deck out of the 49 remaining cards.

Hmm, you don't have any in your hand, im saying you shuffle a deck, and then just deal the flop, so basically all the cards are fair game.
