i think the only way that this type of complete guess-luckbox-Q9os-calling-all-in-type-of-stuff is just an evolution of freezeout tournament poker. It happens to everyone late in tourneys. The Q9 call hurts because it's Q-high, but would you feel better about it if it were AT calling? only marginally. FACT: If you're a good player, it is difficult to outplay you post-flop. FACT: any player who is willing to call off their whole stack with Q9 off that early is not by my standards a good player.
I don't think it's going on a limb too far to say that q9 all-in callers actually stand a better chance in tourneys by getting all-in on the low end of a 65-35 situation or by letting themselves get blinded out than trying to outplay good players. These players aren't able to pick up pots without showdowns. They might not even know the order of hand rankings. Gank, i understand how you're pissed about the Q9 callers, but they suck and you're ahead. BUT, you only have 44 in this particular situation, which isn't a hand i'd want the possibility of being called for a significant amount of chips with, especially if you're giving some donk the LUXURY of being all-in. and it is a luxury.

yea, i see this a lot in tourneys, especially in some of the later levels. a player will limp in with a sub-par hand and then you raise him enough to pretty much put him all in and he calls with some wild hand like Q10, Q9, etc. I don't mind playing hands like that but if you're going to be playing them you should be raising from the beginning not calling yourself all in with them. Huge difference in pushing with Q9 and calling all in with Q9. Just my 2 cents.

Oh ya, the insane calls are getting bad for me lately too.
KQ = the new AA
Q9 = the new AK
AJ = AA killer

Oh I almost forgot about this one, it's not Q9 but close. I felt this guy was weak and could make him fold by isolating the short stack (giving me a better shot at his dead money already in the pot). But I was wrong, Q10 was good enough for almost 3000 chips at the 20/40 level. But this time my hand managed to hold.

Gank,
I've been through his situation, and then I realized the problem.
They call and play back at me because they are sick of me raising and re-raising every hand and every street.
I'm sure they are just sick of you, and they go a little on tilt. The variance part makes it tough, but I'm sure you know, those confrontations are critical to obtain a dominating chip stack.
As a matter of fact, I did the exact same thing against Rizen the other night late in the Paradise Oyster. I was the cutoff when he was the BB, and twice previously he pushed all-in when I opened with hands like A10 or KQ. His stack and my stack were comparable, so I really couldn't make a stand even though I was probably in decent shape. The third time I had 45k and he had 18k. I opened for 4000 with KJo and he pushed for 16k. Normally, I don't call there with KJ, but I told him I was tired of his weak ass push and pray play and called him. Unforturnately for me he had KQ, not the 88, AQ, or A10 that I had hoped for. Fortunately for me, he is also a cool dude and didn't take offense to my table chatter. The point is that some of us weaker players allow emotion to come into the mix. Later, Rizen made a point to let me know that he folded a pair of deuces in the SB to one of my raised, so the 14k loss in chips had some value to me.
I think both plays were fine. I refer to this as being kicked by a donkey.

"I am pretty much pot
committed here I figure at worst I am on the fence on this one. I have
to to call 6k to win a 12k plus pot. You have a wide range of hands
cause like me you want to win and your not going to win by not takeing
risks. If ranked player would of made this call they would be praised.".........
What drugs u taking? can u pass me some they must be good : ) U stick 2400 out of 11k and you're pot committed to stick in 75% your stack OBV behind? lovely story. Rich and compelling. Full of intrigue and suspense.
'...Wide range of hands....' all of which have you in a bad spot. Again if you could let me know what pills ur on id appreciate it

About a year ago I played a pot against Gank just to play a pot against Gank, so for some there is a certain allure of it I suppose. I certainly wouldn't now, but I wouldn't do a lot of the things (or I hope I woulnd't) I did back then now.

Gank I was at your table for awhile during that tournament and remember that hand. I also remember taking notes on choose14me before that hand that he had 0 idea what he was doing. I dont think he took a shot because you are a ranked player. My guess would be he doesnt know about pocketfives.com and I also think he never heard of you. The fact of the matter he is is just a made a terrible play and got lucky.

I'm glad there are donks out there willing to throw away the tourney on a monster like Q9os. Keep em coming.

Busted out of about 6 various SnGs and Tournaments just like this last night. Over, and over again. Furious rage building slowly within. My losses included:
AA vs. KK, AT vs. K7, AQ vs. A4, 77 vs. K9 and 88 vs. Q9.
Quite a night.

took the words out of my mouth brett...
it does suck none of this type of stuff EVER happens to a player who is NOT ranked - it would make it VERY VERY VERY HARD THEN.
I'm DEFINITELY not ranked = unqualified to respond...

I don't see the problem, I mean come on he had Q9?? What do you expect him to fold that, geez. I could understand if he called with a bad hand, but the kid had Q9 how could he not call.
Just my thoughts, Cajun
