From Vanessa Rousso's blog
This guy has major problems.
I get moved to a new table with 12000 in chips. I am there less than 10 hands when I get dealt AJ suited on the button (6 handed tournament by the way). Checks to cutoff short stack player who raises to 600 (100, 200 blinds). I call. Aggressive big stack in the big blind re raises to 2000 (this is an important note…this player did this several times before in only the last ten hands, either he was being hit with the deck or he was steamrolling with his 25K+ stack when average stack was only 6K or so, so he can’t be given too much credit). Small stack pushes all in for 2150 (which means if I call the big blind big stack can’t re-raise because 150 is not considered an actual raise). I make an aggressive call of 1550 more because I was getting more than 3:1 on my money, we were shorthanded so AJ is stronger than in ring games, and I still have a healthy 10K (almost double average) stack even if I lose. Flop comes A A 2 rainbow. Big stack checks and I check. 10 comes on the turn putting up a flush draw. Big stack checks and I bet 2K with my trip aces. Big stack insta-pushes all in for my remaining 8K. This was a very difficult decision. I didn’t think he would push so fast without thinking first with an Ace (it wasn't like he tought about how to get the most out of me which is what a player with trips would do in that scenario)…then I remembered something he said after I called the 2150 pre-flop. He asked the dealer if he could re-raise. The way he said it, he didn’t seem to be happy about a 3-way pot. This made me feel confident he possessed a big pair. He couldn’t have aces since I had an ace. So that left KK, QQ, JJ, and Tens. I thought that he was aggressive enough to put this kind of move on with KK since the pot was so big and given his past play. But eventually I settled on the fact that he had Tens, he hit the two-outer on the turn and realized I must have trip aces and thought he could easily get my whole stack right there with a push all in.
That left me with one more thing to think about before I settled on a fold. Was I getting the pot odds to call even if I was behind? I had one ace in the deck, three jacks, and three twos to help me…that is 7 outs…but with only one card to come that is about 14% so I need to get more than 6:1 to make the call. I would only be getting about half that, so folding was the right play. At this point seat one (another player not in the hand) calls time and I am forced to make a decision. All in all I took maybe 4 minutes to make what was one of the toughest lay downs I have had to make in a while. I muck the Ace and show it, and the big stack says good read and shows the pocket tens. I was really happy to have made the correct decision, so when the big stack apologized for sucking out I smiled and said “that’s poker, nice hand.” Then I turned to the table generally and said, “Hey guys sorry that took so long, I hate to do that but it was for my tournament life and as you can see it was a really tough lay down.”
I wish that was the end of the story. As the dealer is dealing the next hand, someone I have never before seen or heard of in seat five (who wasn’t even in the hand) says in my general direction, “You are awful.” I turned to him and said, “Excuse me, what did you just say?” He looked me square in the eye and said, “You are awful, you played the whole hand like an idiot, you let him get there.” I just lost half my stack and this random guy is seriously going to needle me??!?!? Are you kidding me, is he for real? I say to him, “I’m sorry…am I confused? Did you buy me in? Because I could have sworn I bought myself in to this tournament. So I will tell you what: when you are the one ponying up 2500$ for me, then I will play like you think I should. But as long as I’m paying my own buyins, I am going to play the way I see fit.” It should have ended right there.
He looks me straight in the eye again and says, “You are pathetic.” I turn away and say, “You know what? You aren’t even worth it, I’m ignoring you from here on out.” He still will not quit. He says, “Not worth what, Idiot?” I ignore him and he calls me “pathetic” yet again, mumbling other comments in between half-smirks for the next ten minutes. He really, really, really went too far. In the end, I did not even give him the time of day for the next 30 minutes until I was eliminated.
I later found out that the guy was Aaron Been. I read Aaron’s twoplustwo post where he says I called the big stack an idiot with kings. He is a liar—and that doesn’t even make any sense, why would I (or anyone) have said that when the guy had TENS!!!! Moreover, I, unlike others, do not need to stoop to name calling at the table to try to get an edge. The big stack and I got along very well and when I was later eliminated he again apologized for always seeming to have the best of it when I picked up good hands too…I wished him and the others luck and left.
This was truly the most bizarre and confusing random act of anger I have ever seen. I mean I have never even spoken to this kid before! Clearly Aaron was steaming (he had a short stack) for reasons unbeknownst to me and he just decided to lose his **** for his own messed up reasons. Get some help buddy.
When Chad and I randomly ran into Aaron a few hours later in the hall of the Rio, Chad asked Aaron if he had a problem with me he wanted to address. Aaron didn’t deny a thing when Chad verified he had acted the way I had recounted. So Chad asked him to apologize and Aaron stood there in silence—not that I would think he would have the class to be a man and apologize for such blatantly indefensible rudeness. Chad stuck up for me the way I would hope any guy would stick up for their girlfriend when they are blatantly and FOR NO REAON (on the heels of an apology to the table for taking extra time no less!!) disrespected and essentially abused at the poker table.
I must have made a really easy target for Aaron. What a tough guy…he can pick on a 24 year old girl at a poker table when she has no recourse whatsoever but to ignore him…he must have felt really tough!!!
And as far as Aaron’s evaluation of my play: I might respect his opinion a little more if he actually had any results.
I play poker for a living. I am sorry that people have such disrespect for the game and for other humans in general that they can act how Aaron did. In my opinion, he degrades poker and himself when he acts like that. He was unsportsmanlike, rude, abusive, inappropriate, and genuinely seemed to enjoy his attempt to hurt me. I hate to break it to you Aaron, but the only thing ‘pathetic’ at that table, was you.

I knew during the Chad Brown part of Vanessa's story it was starting to become clear she wasn't being totally honest.
If your boyfriend sticks up for you, fine. But tell the story like it happened. Don't sugarcoat it to make yourself sound better.
Chad Brown is a bitch anyway.

TY, SC, I just don't think that a person's attractiveness or lack thereof has any place in a poker discussion.

OK here's the deal. Insulting anyone at a tabel is immature and pathetic behavior. Personally, I hate to see it at the tabels or online. However, the part of the story I don't understand is why do you have to run to your boyfriend and personally involve him in demanding an apology. This is just as pathetic. If you're going to play in the 'big leagues' stand up for yourself and don't act like a complaining litle girl. You'll get the respect you so much crave.
The next time I'm insulted I'm going to have my bodyguard Bruno take care of it.

What kills me is why people nowadays have to take an otherwise mundane story and make it public on an internet blog so thousands of people can hear their one-sided account of the incident.
Are these people looking for validation? Pity? To hear that they are right?
Learn to deal with things as they happen, or get over it. Don't blog about it on the internet.

What this world really needs is a Poker reality show on TV....now that Survivor is burning out. This kind of stuff will make good entertainment on ESPN. ratings will go thru the roof.

1. anyone should react the same way if in fact someone called them out on how they played the hand. regardless of whether you are male or female, a big guy or a little dude, cat lover or dog lover,...etc. if a person insults your play while not actually being in the hand you have the right to tell them to STFU and GTFO. even if you DID misplay the hand. but why did AB feel the need to chime in about her play?
2. the actually smack talk most likely didn't go down exactly how either described it, so we'll never really know what truly happened. no need to form judgements or 100% certainties about people based on this.
3. if i got into a verbal argument with someone, i would probably tell my significant other. again...it doesn't matter if you are male, female,...etc. now you should all know that a guy is going to stick up for his girl and take her side no matter what. whether chad went after AB or they just happened to connect in the lobby...who knows. but of course a guy is gonna stick up for his girl. i don't know how big either of the two guys are, but it would look bad if chad was larger than AB and trying to act all macho. remember that he is (at least tries to be) an actor, so he can probably put on a good show.
4. i don't think vanessa started a blog just to make this entry. i could be wrong. most likely she had the blog and this is just another entry. what's wrong with that? blogs are like diaries that are public. who really cares? it's the people who link these blogs that you should tell "learn to deal with it".
5. what does vanessa's appearance have anything to do with this? if her looks are relevant, why can't the looks of people who bash her looks be relevant as well? that's pretty hypocritical to call someone out based on their appearance if you aren't blessed with good looks yourself. it's good thing hollywood has a whole lot of ugly ass hypocrites or some of you wouldn't be able to read your gossip magazines or visit your gossip webpages!
6. i like to number my thoughts on this subject.
7. what ever happened to PeteTheBeat???

from liz lieu's blog:
There was 1 seat open with chips there but no player for about 3 hrs. The missing player showed up and it was a girl named Vanessa Russo ( I think that's how it's spelled ). About 10 mins before a 15 minute break I was involved in a huge pot and lost about 45k of my chips. This is how the hand went down... The blinds were 100-200 with 25 ante, it was my big blind... action gets to Vanessa and she raises to 700, one player calls behind her then the action gets to me, I picked up JJ's so I smooth called the 500 raise. The flop came Q Q 2 ( 2 clubs) I check, Vanessa bets out 2k, the other player mucks, actions to me now I raised to 5k to see where she at, she immediately raises to 10k, I think for a bit and calls the raise, the turn comes a J which gives me a full house,I check and she immediately checks behind me, the river comes a Q... the ugliest card for my hand, I checked and she moves all in which she had about almost 35k. I'm put in a really tough decision. I then took some time to analyze the whole hand and how it was played for about a minute or two and then I hear the dealer call the clock on me. This was the first time ever that I have gotten someone to call the clock on me. I then asked the dealer who called for a clock and he responded that the all in player had called the clock. I thought that was pretty inconsiderate considering the amount I had to make a decision whether to call or not. What really threw me off was her check on the turn. There were only a couple hands that I could put her on, an over pair or a nut flush draw which missed. I finally decided to call.. After I threw my chips in she then said " Nice Hand " before turning over her cards which were the A Q of spades which gave her quad Q's at the end. Now that was just wrong saying something like that especially to someone that just lost a huge pot and them knowing they had the nuts. Five mins later it's time for a 15 mins break and one of the players on the table came up to me and gave me a sorry look and said that was very bad etiquette what she had said. Then a few reporters that were standing around at my table during that hand also heard it and came up to me and said the same exact thing. |

Surprised that no one brought up the LizLieu vs. Rousso hand much earlier....

liz lieu played that hand like shit. I used to not being able to make laydowns because I would convince myself that everyone missed their draws and bluffed the river.

If she truly is a slut, Id say that takes her from a 6 to a 9.

lolz @ this convo.
Here is my piece :
I had met her before she got sponsored by stars and she seemed like a typical 24 year old girl; nice, kind, etc. However, these antics go on at the poker tables more often than not and for her to call out someone who has better results than herself is obv wrong. Im pretty sure Aaron would not take this episode further than the felt, therefore in some ways its just another part of the game. Does that make it right? No, but she extended the controversy by approaching Aaron in the hall, which seems pretty hypocritical. As far as Chad Brown stepping in, lolz that is even funnier.
Poker Drama is hilarious.

Questions-
1) Why in the world would Vanessa make a story like this up and then write about it in her blog?
2) What benefit does she gain by lying about what happened?
3) Does anyone really believe that this is not how she recalls here interaction with AB?
4) Don't you believe AB is now trying to do some damage control in order to protect his reputation from looking like a complete ass clown?
Flame away- I know everyone here wants to stick up for AB, but cmon if Vanessa's recolection of the interaction is 90% accurate then what a douche.

If you read the 2+2 thread you will clearly see she has grossly overexaggerated what happened at the table.
