I dont think you realize the sick run a microgrinder would have to go on to move up.  There are plenty of good players down here... it's just the run it takes to move up is very hard to come across...  Just some food for thought.

Also note in no way am I saying it was all luck you were able to move up, you pwn and I know it.

Its not that hard to move up if ur good...ur constantly playing terrible players. Your telling me that a mico grinder couldnt grind $3-$5 sngs and on the side save up a bunch of satty tokens to the $26 buy ins on fulltilt? jus keep repeating this and within a few months ur bound to get a 2-3k score to get u going.

I've been saying that for the last year and a half.  Every time I get close I get UL at the final 3 tables or so.  AA vs A4 and having it run out bad, things like that.  I'm probably just a bad player but I keep making the textbook plays - from there the luck factor takes over.

I dont know how many times I've been deep in the 10r or 5r or 3r and just went dead as far as cards go, or gotten UL and was sent walking.  Being good is only half of the battle.   err okay maybe 3/4.

I came up from nothing playing limit poker, then randomly won a 30dollar 1000 man on party for 6300... got hooked on MTTs and was up 40kin 2 weeks after that, 90k in 2 months

if you are good enough, you can make it happen... but trust me it isn't easy, I worked my ass off

alotta ppl dont come close to putting in the time that it takes to become a winning player. I dont think ive went more then 2-3 days without watchin poker vids/playing in the past 2 years. For the first year I was a break even player before I realized my leaks n slowly started analzying my game and fixing the. Im prolly 85% to where I wanna be....i jus dont see the random micro grinder that has aspirations of turning pro putting in this amnt of time

I wont argue that it can happen.  I'm just arguing that you do need to be lucky to have it happen - even if it is for just a short while.  I dont think you could reasonably argue that when you got up 40k in 2 weeks you were not on a sick streak at the time?

I have no doubt you worked your ass off in the process to make it happen.  Don't think I'm saying it was all luck.  As I stated before I know you are a very good player.  I just don't like the statements that say anyone can do it.  I believe it takes 3 tools to make it up out of the micro game:  Skill, hard work, and luck.  I dont know how much of each it takes but I know without all 3 you are still stuck in the kiddie pool until you get all 3.

Thank you for the story though, it's insperational.  I look forward to the day I hit a big cash and am able to play a larger spread of limits to move up.

I really do not see any more point in arguing what I am saying so I think we may have to just agree to disagree on this? :)

Cheers.

there is no such thing as luck, in the long run... if you are good enough, eventually everything will come together and it will happen...

Personally I dont think I could put in more time.  I deal cards for work so I'm spending 51hours a week in a card room, when I'm not dealing I'm watching everything.  At home I constantly troll P5s, I used to be a cardrunners member where I watched every single video on the site before canceling.  I mean I don't know how much more time I personally could invest into learning - not that I dislike it.  I love ever bit of info I get to take from the resources I've listed.  I also appreciate every bit of information the online pros of this site post as I know it will help my game.

I'm not sure where I was going with this reply.

Uh, Cheers I guess?
