I play sng's regularly during the week. I have a positive ROI and am happy with my style.
I understand that looking for weak players to play against is paramount to success.
My question is,
Do you as a SnG regular avoid playing on Friday nights and Saturdays for any reason?
I am considering dropping these slots from my schedule as they are consistent ROI killers for me.
Mathematically speaking these days should be no different from any others. The instances of losing with the best hand however are dramatically increased on these days it seems. I'm sure I don't need to whine about runner runner this and AK being a useless hand and domination situations being mathematically reversed and higher pairs losing out to lower pairs and all the myriad ways a person can be driven to madness.
I am genuinely interested if others have dropped these particular days and are happier for it.
sound off I would love to know what you think.

Friday/Saturday nights are the best times to play my friend, plenty of drunk people practically giving money away (especially at the low limits). I have a lot of friends who tell me they lost their bankroll one night after coming home from a party...I wish I played more on these nights but I'm usually out drinking myself.

I hear what you're saying. I wish it was the case. But I am losing consistently to the dongulingus who calls with 85o and hits 2 pair or a runner runner straight. Check these numbers over my last 40 games.
these are elimination hands or hands that finished the tourney.
40 hands.
when I have best of it I lose - 66% of the time.
when its a coinflip I lose - 100% of the time
when I have the worst of it I lose - 90% of the time
when I have opponent dominated I lose - 70% of the time
The results from the previous 3 saturdays are mirror image, except for one where I had results as expected by the hand holdings.
All other days played since beginning of 2009 are as expected.
I havent stopped Fri and Sat yet as I know I should be loving these 85o callers.

solid sample size. I get frustrated with short term variance too its something I am actively working to not let bother me. Its tough, but focusing on things like the underlined portion will just make u bitter and not better at all. Keep grinding its what I keep telling myself when I feel I'm "running bad" etc

a reasonable reply and I am frustrated with the "short term" variance. Lets hope it stays short term.

lol....and oh its called a downswing, if your playing correctly and every friday/saturday for the year then you should be profitable on these, even more so than regular days because like u said, u can get called aipf by 85o.

Posts like these make me realize why I play SNGS for a living

I play the 50$ non turbo's and it's a way easier game on the weekend. Friday night, usually half the table is out by level 4 or 5, whereas on the weekdays you see maybe 1 person out by then on average. With that said, I like to have a life on the weekend, so I usually just beat my head into the brick wall of regulars all week. And I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure I remember taking a bad beat on a Tuesday once, so that pretty much blows your theory out of the water.

Dude u absolutely should play sitngoes on the weekend. I used always take saturdays off until i played a couple saturdays and realized how bad the players are on the weekend. All my usual sitngoes become much more profitable with all the weekend warriors on the felt.
Simply put, "If u dont like people throwing money at you, than dont play on saturdays"

Really?
Either you a) Have no concept of statistics, variance, a profitable play, what the odds are in a coin flip, hand ranges etc. or b) Want sympathy and are going about it the wrong way.
Best advice you can get: Put in some real volume like 1k games (assuming you are playing low stakes) and if you are still a loser while it could be variance it probably isn't and quit or start seriously studying the game instead of making these post.

I always found weekend more profitable. And cash games even more so than SNG's so stop playing the SNG's on the weekend and play ring games.

I was talking with a few of the guys that regularly play the sit n gos with buyins of over $100. They assure me that there are not as many bad players.
Theu were all in agreement that you should play in these higher buyin sit n gos on friday and saturday nights. They even went as far as to suggest that you play in these all the time.

Unwise people do, Friday/Saturday night is the best time to play, no argument (unless you do not like money).

I agree w the op, I have a harder time winning on friday and saturday night. Dont ask my why. Doesnt keep me from playing if Im at home though.
